Sending our daughter to SF this fall for college….we/she couldn’t be more excited. It’s a wonderful city, with a rich history and culture. But what do I know, I feel the same way about Portland.
On that note @crandc , I expect cookies and treats sent to the USF Women’s Soccer team every now and then!
It is, but it is stupid expensive to live in the city. Add the semi-miserable weather and as nice it is (I really enjoyed our time in the bay area), it just made no sense to me. The people were really lovely tho, probably the nicest neighbors we had just about anywhere. When we lived there in 2012/3 - a 1,500 sq/ft house like the one we were renting was $1.2m outside of the city just west of San Rafael (San Anselmo). My wife would drive every morning from our home to Larkspur, take the boat into town and hike to her office - because parking cost as much as our rent (and it was not cheap). IIRC, there are regulations that limit high-rise building in the city - which leads to a severe housing crisis, so as mentioned above, you are either swimming in money or live in a dump or on the outskirts of the city.
no fucking way aren’t people being shot up on every block? What about all that lootin’ dat dem dumbocrats dunt cur about?
Well that doesn't count.... the tweakers will just get lost in Ikea. If anything they will just have to worry about them moving in.
Just spent some time down there at the beginning of this month moving our daughter into USF. Just gorgeous over there. Big cities have big problems. You either choose to acknowledge it and move on or go live out in the country. It is what it is. My kid is having an absolute blast. We’ll be heading back down there next week to watch her play a couple games.
