Not a veteran myself, but my family has a long line of service men/women. Proud son of an Army Ranger! Thank you all for your service!
OK, I don't know if you guys get the same feed I do, but I've been bothered by the "Salute to Service" awardee for today. Commander Beach Pace, of the US Army and EOD. At first I thought "She's not Navy, if she went to West Point, and she's not a commander, if she's Army, so maybe the Blazers messed up" (and I was going to give @HCP a bit of good-natured gruff about messing up a rank on Veteran's Day). But it turns out that her own bios state that. https://www.electbeachpace.com/meet-beach-pace/ I want to give benefit of the doubt, so Army guys, please let me know...would a 1st LT or Captain say that their rank was "Commander" if they were the XO (and acting company commander) of an EOD unit?
damn, they must've had glamour shots in y'all's day, because my Boot Camp grad photo makes me look like an extra from Full Metal Jacket. and not in a good way.
This was after graduating Radioman A school at NTC in San Diego..parked me in SF until I flew out to Viet Nam..one of those cheap portrait shops near fisherman's wharf...I didn't even remember this picture until my mother passed away and I inherited a bunch of her photos
Never Forget I never served, but my father, and his father, etc served. My father was a helicopter mechanic in Vietnam. Though I don't always agree with why we go to war, I have great respect for those who have risked/given their lives, so that we may stay free.
Is this HCP and his hunting buddies out LARPing in the cascades???? Seriously thanks to all of you guys who served to protect our families and friends from the dangers of this crazy world.
THAT'S the way to put some "Spec" on someone's name. HCP earned his. Thank you for your service, sir.
wow...my son told me this am that the army is going back to ww2 uni's, it's i recognition of the Greatest Generation!
