Yeah really 41 shots... Even Iverson's highest carrer FG attempt is 42 and u can't really blame the guy since he's the one that carries the team pretty much. Oh yeah, just to throw this in, Kobe scored 44pts on 19/41 FG in yesterday's game and Iverson scored 58 on that 21/42 shooting night. For all you Kobe supporters, there goes your argument on how he's not a stats stuffer I guess. I don't know about you guys, but I think the streak is coming to an end on a nasty way. Him missing lots of shots to keep the 40+ ppg streak going is not a good thing for the team to get the "W". I don't know if PJ keeps telling Kobe to shoot the ball alot or whatever, it's not helping the Lakers and Kobe imo should start distributing the ball now.

I know 44 points is good but look how many shots he made 19/42. 42 SHOTS. That is alot. If your going to take that many atleast make more than 19 Points. - OnlineX
whatever it takes for the lakers to get the W is all that matters. i could care less if kobe gets the scoring title...just get us into the playoffs!!!

I've never liked Kobe bryant. He is a darn good player, but the guy just makes me mad. Personally, I like T-Mac better as a player than Kobe, while he is on a role, his wins didn't start pilling up until shaq came back. Same with his stats. (Changed bad text - OnlineX)
Kobe was a huge reason Lakers lost to Spurs. He was getting the rolls, but he took way too many shots and definately forced the issue. Those 2 turnovers caused by Bowen in the backcourt were crucial as well. Those 3 quick fouls on Shaq to start the 3rd didn't help either. I had a feeling the Lakers would lose to the streaking Spurs, but I'm glad they lost because maybe the Lakers will make a trade now.
i cant believe they can afford a gary payton...thats remarkable with all the money they have tied up now...i guess when your owners want to win and have the money....theyull find a way.
Lakers are like the Yankees of basketball! Buy what they need to be good. I gueese. I hate both teams though.
i cant believe some of the things that have been said on this forum...you guys are absolutely ridiculous...either that or you are just plain stupid... sj i cant believe u pointed out ONE GAME as proof that Kobe IS A STAT STUFFER...that is just retarded...Shaq shot 9/19 in that game...which is HORRIBLE by his standards and if you had actually watched the game instead of thinking that you could judge it just by a boxscore summary is disgusting...Shaq looked completely lost out there and there was no way he was going to dominate that game...so what was kobe supposed to do? give the ball to fisher so he could dominate tony parker...umm not gonna happen...let fox or george try to dominate stephen jackson...sadly stephen jackson would tool on either of them...or better yet lets give the ball to samaki so he can go one on one with duncan...there is a GREAT idea...you ppl who think Kobe tried to do too much that game...i could say the same thing about T-Mac EVERY NIGHT! T-MAC forces the issue EVERY SINGLE GAME HE PLAYS... now before u guys go off on me sayin 'oh ur just biased because ur a kobe fan'...i give u a big enthusiastic SCREW OFF...T-Mac is my second favorite player in the NBA...he is a dominating player with the athleticism and skillz to make him one of the best of all time...HE IS NOT KOBE BRYANT and will never be as good as Kobe is...sometimes players are forced to push themselves to the limit...their teams will live and die by their success or failure in doing so...T-Mac is one of them who unfortunately must do this EVERY NIGHT because he has no supporting cast unless its the one game out of every 10 that Mike Miller decides to show up and play...against the spurs..Kobe was put in a similar situation..no one else came out to play that night...so he tried to do it all on his own...and the spurs were too good of a team to try and do this...on the same night kobe shot 19/41 (46% if my math is correct) T-Mac shot 11/26 (42%) where is the criticism thrown at T-Mach? Kobe's game vs the Spurs only looked like a poor performance in comparison to the amazing 7 game stretch he played leading into it, game 8 was FAR ABOVE AVERAGE for any player in NBA history (including your precious Michael Jordan)...and game 9 was no different...if he is rested and his knee is feelin better do not be surprised to see a big 10th game out of Kobe...the guy is unstoppable and his coach and team have let go of the reigns to let him control their offense...Shaq's time is past and even he recognizes this...Kobe will be the center of the Laker offense, at least until the playoffs... whoever said 'Lebron James' as one of the ppl who is better then Kobe...if you were not joking you should be shot...stupidity should not be allowed in this world...that is the most utterly retarded comment i have ever heard in my entire life...you were obviously not at pauley pavillion were LeBron was shut down on the perimeter from single coverage by DJ Strawberry...Strawberry is a GREAT player and a tremendously athletic guard who's career i have been following at Mater Dei since his freshman year...if he could keep Lebron in check on the perimeter...guys like Kobe, T-Mac, Pierce, KG and company will ABSOLUTELY DOMINATE him...Lebron is in for a big wakeup call when he gets to the NBA...he'll be good...but how good is at this point nothing but speculation...current skill level...he is as dominant as Rick Fox at best...Lebron's answer for being shut down no hte perimeter by Strawberry...post him up where there would be no help coming (at least no help big enuff to make a difference)...lets see lebron try to post up in the NBA with Shaq / Ben Wallace / KG / hell even Olowakandi in the paint...not gonna happen... Garnett is a great player...Kobe has 3 rings and is and has always been the fourth quarter finisher for his team...you cant ride shaq through the 4th quarter ppl get that through your heads...so no KG is not better...Sczerbiak (although he's been hurt all year) is FAR FAR better then anyone else Kobe has on his team besides shaq...so no he is not "without help" Mcgrady is amazing...im not sure he'd ever be able to adapt to playing more of a team oriented game...I could be wrong but i really dont htin khe would perform as well in the triangle as Kobe does... Duncan - aka. Tim DunCANTwinAnotherChampionship...disappears in the 4th quarter of close big games...(see NBA playoffs last 2 years) where they were dominated by who? Kobe Bryant...gg no re there "exactly he's just having a few good games. we've seen people like Pierce and AI have streaks like that but did they get anywhere?" actually we havent you incompetent shit...the only other player to ever have a streak of games like Kobe has had is named Michael Jordan...next in line being Oscar Robertson and Rick Barry...i dont think Kobe would complain havin his name associated with those 3 guys... "Iverson scored 58 on that 21/42 shooting night" and how many times have we seen iverson shoot 9/27 and score 20 points??? exactly...plz...ai takes more BAD shots then anyone in the league...but i put him in the same boat as Mcgrady in terms of his teams talent...only problem is...he's had great players on his team, Stack, Huges, that COULD NOT GET ALONG WITH HIM AT ALL because AI doesnt share the ball...whether he has a second scorer on his team or not...Kobe scored more points then he took shots (and got to the free throw line very few times...a ton less then he should have...there were at least 4 shots that he missed that i believe were because of fouls that were not called)...once you start throwing up more shots then you score points...then that is an unacceptable offensive attitude...and i believe the only game this season kobe has had more shots then points was the first game vs the spurs...AI has done it at least 6 times this year alone...thanks Shaq hasnt complained about Kobe's not sharing the ball (through an entire season) in the past 4 years and Kobe's "Ball Hogging" as you might put it or "Stat Stuffing" has NEVER resulted in a player asking for a trade the way the sixers have had problems with players being able to get along with AI on the court and off... Kobe would never sacrifice his team's benefit for his own personal glory...case in point...game 3 (i think 3 cuz it was first round) vs the blazers in last years playoffs...kobe could easily have knocked down that 2 point fade away over pippen (rasheed was WAY too late on the help D)...but he saw his teammate Horry had a wide open look at the 3...he gives up the ball (and the glory) and trusts his teammate has a better shot at winning the game for his team then he does... Jason Kidd - fantastic point guard..and upped his scoring skillz this season...extremely impressive...he's the only player in the league that i think has a chance of being proven more valuable to his team then Kobe is to the Lakers...he does it all and more importantly...his teammates play above everyone's expectations of them.. Nowitzki (i think i saw his name in there) - AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAh this is not even worthy of a response from me...anyone who cant play defense (another one of Mcgrady's weaknesses...he seems to only step on on defense when he feels the opponent is worthy...ie kobe) is not an MVP candidate... Webber - indeed he's a great player...i hate his guts...but he's a great player...but if ur gonna count kobe out just because he has shaq...Webber has Stojakovich, Bibby, Vlade, Keon Clark, Bobby Jackson...need i go on? where as Kobe has Shaq...and then he has...umm Shaq...and yah thats it...so if this discounts Kobe as the MVP count out Webber as well... "shaq is gettting them the dubyas. kobe was putting up big numbers at the beginning of hte year too."
actually we havent you incompetent ****...the only other player to ever have a streak of games like Kobe has had is named Michael Jordan...next in line being Oscar Robertson and Rick Barry...i dont think Kobe would complain havin his name associated with those 3 guys... Don't forget Wilt Chamberlain. Great points on Kobe. I agree with the overall outlook and it's finally refreshing to see someone actually back up their comments with fact, than to just to nitpick Kobe's game and then say so and so is better because of that.
"Lakers are like the Yankees of basketball! Buy what they need to be good. I gueese. I hate both teams though." WRONG! that would be the Kings, Mavericks, and Blazers...do your homework son "shaq is gettting them the dubyas. kobe was putting up big numbers at the beginning of hte year too." at the end of my first post...i meant to say you were stupid...but mel has asked me to refrain from calling anyone stupid...so i will merely say this...this was one of many stupid comments i have seen you make in this thread alone...and smart people dont make consistently stupid remarks... have a nice day sir i do say you may have made one semi-decently intelligent observation: "Hes definetly a great scorer bu Id say from the look of the spurs game he should start trying to actualy start think not about his numbers but about whats going to get his team a win. 44 points is great. but on FORTY ONE SHOTS?? not to mention 7 turnovers!"...but plz reference from my original post about the 44 points on 41 shots issue...the seven turnovers, however, were ugly...and not only were they turnovers...they were costly ones...but even MJ had his share of not so stellar performances, and the game against the spurs was far from a poor performance for any NBA player...
Kobe is KILLING T-Mac in nearly every category this season... ? Rebounds ? Assists ? Steals ? Blocks ? FG% ? 3P% ? FT% ? Minutes ? DOUBLE DOUBLES ? TRIPLE DOUBLES Soon Kobe wil be better in points also. You guys can all complain that Kobe has Shaq but that's just one of these things that makes him so great. T Mac doesn't have that gret player by his side but let's face it.........T Mac is not that good team player as Kobe. Kobe could be first option in any team in this whole league but he stayed with Shaq and T Mac didn't want to play with VC becuase he wanted to be first option. Kobe has 3 rings and some of you will say:, : " T Mac could also have 3 rings with Shaq". The bottom of the line is that all great players in great teams had one or two good players by their side Mikan had Mikklesan = 5 rings Bill Russel had Tom Heinsohn = 11 rings Larry Bird had Kevin McHale and Robert Parrish = 3 rings Magic had Kareem and Worthy = 5 rings...showtime MJ had Pippen = 6 rings All the great players had someone One day Kobe will be known as a winner,as one of the best shooting guards ever...........T Mac will be known as great shooting guard...........
52 Points 19/38 from the field 11/11 from the line 8 Boards 7 Assists 3 Blocks 5 Turnovers (yah thats not so good but wuteverz) all while limping on an extremely sore knee...oh and don't forget one monster dunk on yao ming...and 2 baskets, one at the end of regulation and one at the end of first OT to tie up a game that the lakers desperately needed to win...ALL WITHOUT THIS PRECIOUS SHAQUILLE ONEAL THAT ALL OF YOU HATERS IS THE KEY TO KOBE'S EFFECTIVENESS... it speaks for itself...this thread should be over right now because the obvious answer is no one...
we all wish youd stop calling us stupid. it reallllllllllllly makes you look bad. but what you dont seem to understand is that I DONT HATE KOBE! most of us DONT! but if you watch BASKETNALL and WHATCH the lakers you realize quickly that SHAQ not kobe is that team. they squeezed out a win last night and you know what? it took 52 POINTS from KObe and a double overtime effort to win it! against a team who you seem to think the lakers are head and shoulders above whos best player (Francis) was sucking up the joint and whos best player in that particular game (Yao) got fouled out on a BOGUS call. how much MORE PROOF do you need that the lakers are nothing without shaq. whats their record without him this year? 2 -12? 3- 14?? how do you explain it? why didnt kobe who according to you is the best player ever win those games for his team. all he does is put up AMAZING numbers. hes a selfish player who loves to put on a show. he maybe one of the best scorers to play in a while but thasts all. hes not leaders. hes not a player. hes not a winner and you have no evidence to indicate that he is
Kobe's The Best in the league. I hate the Lakers but its the truth. 3 Things to point out though. 1. Let's see if he keeps the #s he has when Shaq is gone 2. Reggie Miller beat his ass 3. Doug Christie Beat Rick Fox's ass 4. Can any Lakers fight?
good point about the fighting but kobe has a ways to go before proving hes the best player in the game
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting "olskoolFunktitude":</div><div class="quote_post">good point about the fighting but kobe has a ways to go before proving hes the best player in the game</div> He is already considered by most as the best player in the game..
"1. Let's see if he keeps the #s he has when Shaq is gone " once Shaq retires (i assume this is what you are talking about)...probably 3 years from now...Kobe will emerge without a doubt as the best player in the game and not even any of you will be able to question it after this...i am confident of that... my reasoning? when Shaq leaves...Kobe will be the Key to the Lakers success...in my opinion Phil Jackson already sees Kobe as the key to their success now...Shaq leaving will also free up 30 million dollars a year of salary money...granted kobe will probably be making 20 odd million a year then but that still leaves 22 more million dollars for the Lakers to sign players that will compliment Kobe, rather then players who will compliment Shaq...hell they could prolly afford McGrady...i would LOVE watching that =P if Kobe can put up the numbers with Shaq in the lineup he will certainly be able to put them up without him in the lineup...reason? he touches the ball more...the offense runs through him...and he needs to put up 40 for them to win because Fox and Fisher are rarely going to put up 20 points...even tho Fisher's done it quite a few times this year...that was kinda surprising... yah the lakers cant fight...but who cares? i dont watch basketball to watch fights...i watch basketball to see people play basketball...and oh the Lakers do that just fine...
