I give a shit. I care that there are racist cops out there and that black people are disproportionately targets of violence. I care that violence is a comparatively greater influence in life in the black population and that police participation in that cycle of violence is a reflexive feedback loop. But to me the problem is violence. Most white people see the endemic violence in black communities and remain eager to support law enforcement because of it. Now, it should be argued that the justice system and the drug war should carry some heavy responsibility here. It should be argued that police have too much protection and will often operate above the law without repercussion. It should be argued that law enforcement has been granted too much authority, reverence, and trust. It should be pointed out the prison industrial complex with the tacit alliance between prosecution and law enforcement. And the big one, poverty. If we hold police accountable, revere civil liberties, and socialize wealth I think the issue of race becomes moot. I see the end of violence as the solution and what breeds violence if not mainly socioeconomic inequity. That's the cause that the black community should be fighting for and voting for.

While we are on the subject of oppressed white males, I have a question.

Why is there a "Christmas Eve", but no "Christmas Adam?" Halp! Halp! I'm being repressed!

Black people are only disporportionatly targets of violence by other black people. But black on white violence is actually much higher than vice versa, and police kill more whites. So their arguments are total bullshit. Blacks need to look at THEMSELVES and solve their own violence issue rather than blaming it on someone else. You see what you did in your post there, you're blaming it on some big conspiracy between cops and prisons.

So you're saying that Blacks murder a 8 times the rate as whites because they're all being framed for it?

It's true that police kill more whites than blacks. But since it's blacks who are willing to have a movement over the issue, if they want to focus on the blacks who get killed, it's alright with me. They're doing the work to force more humane police killing procedures, so they get first dibs to benefits.

The movement will eventually extend to all police victims, just as Martin Luther King evolved his movement to being about poor people, not just blacks. After blacks win this struggle, there will be free benefits to whites. So you racists should mount the bandwagon and cheer on blacks and us white liberals. When this is won, everyone will win, except for the law-and-order fascists in power. But that doesn't include white trash, so you should join us.

Damn that was good. Another of my many well-reasoned literary nuggets of gold. The big tent approach appeals to the selfish conscience in everyone.

Well, I think it would be grand if we didn't need cops at all. But we need to eliminate the assholes running down the road brandishing knives, thugs robbing liquors stores, and other uncivil acts.

    Where do we start?

Most of the owners that start a liquor store did so to hire themselves.

I think the answer is that in the end none of our lives really matter. Doing the best with the life you've got is about all you can do.

Maybe it should be black lives matter as much as the next.

    #alllivesmatter

I support the original intention of the "black lives matter" movement, I get where the basis came from, but as it moves forward, the exclusionary evolution of it, I cannot support. It's a much bigger discussion. We, as Americans, as a country founded upon and based upon freedom, deserve so much more.

We ALL deserve more. We all should demand more from the powers that overlord us. We, the American Public, should demand more, in unity, to preserve the rights and freedoms for which our country is supposedly based upon.

3 black people shot by police in Chicago over Christmas.

One a mentally disturbed boy armed with an aluminum baseball bat. To be sure he was dead, the cops shot him 7 times. The cops shot his downstairs neighbor for good measure, too. She was an elderly woman who just opened her door.

The other was a man who had dropped his weapon and had his arms up.

I think continuing to post threads disparaging a movement that simply wants to hold police accountable for their actions says much more about the poster than the movement.
