This is where i was going when i was asking about the rules and possible language issues involved with the S2 writing team.
Before the game, the media gets access to the locker room. The guys are literally just sitting there watching tv and joking around. You can go up to anyone and ask if they would answer a few questions. I generated a ton of content this way. After the game the guys are getting dressed and you can ask them questions. Obviously there is a throng around lillard and Aldridge but you can get your own time and quotes from other players. The media moves around in a big clump and a smart writer doesn't need to be in that mob. Practice is not open to the media until after they're done. At that point you can try to grab anyone as they walk off the court. This is a good time to talk to coaches or players in a more relaxed setting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Obviously not every blog that some bozo starts is going to get media access, but BE has been credentialed for a long time. They lost their main writer and now they're expected to break in a guy with no access? So does the new comcast writer have to establish themselves for they get access? was never a fan of gollivers writing, and DD is even worse. i mean, i fucking love the blazers, and i never read shit there. and im not the only one.
I like BE. It's different from what we do here. Ben Golliver really liked our forum and covered a lot of our Meet and Greets. In trading emails with Dave I get the feeling that he doesn't care for us much.
I look at it this way. You better have a writer in training pretty much ready if and when you lose a writer. The O has Tokito and Joel Odom backing up Freeman who was backing up Quick.
I had an indifferent experience at BE pretty early and just left it after that. Agree about Ben--could be aloof but was a decent dude when you could sit with him and chat.
All I see in this thread is a bunch of people who have never had locker room access telling me you don't need locker room access. It's like the virgin saying you don't need sex. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well Dave doesn't let you call him names like you do. For that i have become a very loyal S2 fan of the Blazers.
Their writing and analysis sucks big donkey dick. I can't ever really being impressed by any of their offerings throughout the years.
Actually from the way you explained it, this makes a lot of sense. I did not know you had that kind of access even with locker room access.
no, its like a virgin saying you have to wear condoms. you can still have sex, but its not quite as good as it could be.
What the Blazers are offering is not sex. You sit in the 200 level and that's it. A credential without locker room access is not a credential at all. The fan sitting a few rows in front of you has the same view and information that you have. The only difference is that they paid for it. The Blazers are essentially calling it sex, but you only get to sit in the corner and watch. Not participate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We have the managing editor of digital media for the blazers posting on this site saying our first articles are actually very good. All without any press passes of any kind. We will have one for opening night, in fact. If we can consistently produce quality content, I bet we end up with hundreds of articles published here, on blazers.com, NBA.com, and others. I wouldn't get down about the lack of access right away. We will prove ourselves by getting published a lot.
