Re: Why did PapaG/NewsSource do to get banned? I've long been one of the few pro-Papa supporters here. He's taken his meltdown to a whole new level. I don't really get why he was banned from a couple of the posts that other posters linked to as "over the line", especially the garbage spewed his way. Remember those old sayings, "kill 'em with kindness" and "treat others how you'd like to be treated."? I saw a few posters stooping to his level, sadly. It's a big part of why I rarely post these days. But yeah..... this thing has to be embarrassing for Papa. Quite a meltdown. And whining and crying to the Blazers about it. This is a message board loaded with a bunch of tools. And one of the bigger ones is crying to be let back in and is feeling excluded from this cesspool? Papa has become anything and everything he antagonizes others for. I will no longer bitch and whine about his banning. His schtick has gotten old. That being said, this place is not much better off after seeing some of the shit thrown his way by other posters. (I will now gingerly attempt to climb off my high horse.)

Re: Why did PapaG/NewsSource do to get banned? Au contraire, mon frère. In private conversations with the mods I've resisted banning anyone in general and PapaG in particular. Perhaps they'll vouch for me. In any case, since he was perma-banned, the quality of the posting and the treatment of people by one another seems to have been much better. People who weren't posting began posting again. We have plenty of PM type feedback thanking us for making the board more fun to read. We excuse a lot of heated dialog in the OT section because the topics are religion and politics a lot - things you're not supposed to discuss at the dinner table, so they say. IMO, we should never be about looking for reasons to ban anyone. But when someone is making people who are loyal to this place miserable, we have to think about taking action. He came back under a new user name and we decided to see if he might change his ways. It wasn't about anything specifically that he posted this time, it was that he was on a short leash and he was in the midst of multiple ongoing flame fests and enough is enough. We absolutely plan to be aggressive about enforcing the ban this time. No more coming back under new user names.

I understand the decision, and given the continued tantrums that have followed by said poster, it just totally reinforces the decision. I was more knocking the people that were bashing Papa, when they contributed to his meltdown and were talking ish about him.
