Wow that is a crazy statement considering we just had Sergio here the last few years. Worst in the league? You definitly have not seen him play. Now if you were to say he isn't a good 3 point shooter, I would agree with you. Because he isn't, at least at this stage of his career. But within the arc, he is an efficient scorer. Basically he is the same as Andre Miller. He can't shoot 3's, but he is smart enough not to take them. It doesn't mean it isn't a weakness in his game, but it does mean that he works to not make it a weakness in his game by taking that part of his game out.

Look at the post all-star numbers though. They are great. Look Bayless isn't the answer and Sessions has shown that he is capable of succeeding at the NBA level. I wouldn't mind rolling the dice on him as I don't see us having many opportunities to acquire a young PG in the foreseeable future. That's what it comes down to. I would greatly prefer Conley but I don't think that is going to happen. Harris is even less likely and it gets pretty bleak after that. IF the Blazers are considering Miller they should definitely try for Sessions it's that simple. Outside shooting CAN be taught. Having Sessions out of the game in crunch time means Rudy is in, so what's the problem with that again?

Teams know that if they throw out an MLE deal, the Bucks will match and Sessions will belong to the Bucks for the next 4-5 years. If Sessions does not sign an extension and simply accepts the qualifying offer, he'll become a UFA next year in the season of 2010 when a ton of teams will have cap space. Since the other 29 teams know they CAN'T get him this year (Bucks would match) their best bet is to sit and wait and hope he takes a one year deal...and then run at him next year.

With that in mind, if the Bucks can't him to sign an extension, they would probably be open to trading him during the season because they'd rather do that (trade his rights) than loose him for nothing. They also have Jennings to run the show soon. They'd probably accept a trade back...but for what? Maybe they like Freeland and could use a big to go with Amir Johnson and Bogut (and Joe Alexander who is their 3/4 tweener like Outlaw).

The Bucks seem to go through a new PG ever couple years: Ford -> Williams -> Sessions -> Jennings

So I think maybe we're standing pat hoping that this scenario plays out, so that we can trade for him using our cap space in an extension sign and trade. Just a thought!

If it comes down to it...do you trade Rudy for Sessions straight up? Milwaukee is in sort of a youth movement of their own and probably would look to unload Redd soon. If they had Rudy at the SG they'd have a talented piece that would justify them moving Redd and keeping a young and talented (and cheap, which is important) core.

I wonder why there are so many people that still think KP will make a move during the season. How many times does he need to say in interviews that he doesn't like to do it?

This seems to be a very insightful post as to why teams are not bidding.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
    I think this is spot-on.

And as far as your question, I would definitely trade Rudy for Sessions. Sessions is slightly better, a little younger and plays a position of greater need.

Using Michael Redd as a reference seemed odd to me. I only pointed out that they have nothing in common as players.

That said, I'll be pissed if Sessions is given a contract that uses cap space.

Update: Knicks president Donnie Walsh met with Sessions’ agent on Tuesday, and the two sides will continue to talk, the New York Post reports.

Recommendation: The Knicks are monitoring the situation with Andre Miller(notes) as well. And they appear to be in a good position as the market for point guards is drying up, after the Clippers acquired Sebastian Telfair(notes) on Monday. The Bucks could match any offer made to Sessions, but they may be all set at point guard with rookie Brandon Jennings(notes) and Luke Ridnour

The fact that it is the Knicks and Clippers who are showing the most interst in Sessions is a real concern in itself. :pimp:

Michael Redd was referenced because he is a Milwaukee player who was drafted in the 2nd round and because of that entered a restricted free agent scenario similar to Sesions. Milwaukee moved players to clear cap space to keep him (Moving Ray Allen, no easy decision). Seing as how Milwaukee moved players to clear out cap space once again, and their past with Michael Redd and Mo Williams was to clear space and match, if you cannot see the similarity in the patterns then I cannot help you. History repeats itself, if you are willing to learn from it. Do you want to burn 10 days making an offer to a guy they are just going to match? That is what I am saying. They will match. Other teams know how much cap space Milwaukee has, how much they have themselves, and what kind of offers can be tendered. It is all just math. It can be really easy to figure out if you have a chance or not. I am guessing nobody does.

Interesting comparison. Their PER's and Asst/36 for the first 2 years are identical, and their TS% are .001 apart. There are a few major differences, though.

Sessions usage rate (21.4) is quite a bit lower than Damon's was in Toronto (24.4). Sessions Ortg and Drtg are both better than Damon's were, and he also turns the ball over less. But most importantly, Sessions was not "the man" in Milwaukee like Damon was in Toronto. I think there would be less concern over his ability to be effective while deferring to other players, because that's what he did in his first two years. The same could not be said about Damon.

I always say that you post pretty much exactly what I want to say...but I'm too lackadaisical to do it myself. Looks like this time I simply beat you to the punch....this time.
