    No team goes from lottery to championship in one year. You have to take your lumps in playoffs before winning it all. The longer we put off making the playoffs, the longer it will take to win a title.

    The Spurs. Took Timmy with the #1 pick and then won the championship.

    BOOM!

    And the Celtics. Were in the lottery and then traded for Garnett and Ray Allen. Championship.

    Spurs lost in playoffs in Duncan's rookie year. Also that Spurs team had lost in playoffs for years before Duncan got there. They had one bad season because DRob was hurt. Boston is a rare rare rare example. Jordan, Kobe, Shaq, LeBron, and Dirk took years and years of failure in playoffs before winning the title.

    I already said Boston is a rare rare rare exception. And even in that case, Pierce, Allen, and KG had taken many lumps in the playoffs before they came together to win a title.
