IIRC, Mchale did just lose a family member in the last year... so, this may be still too soon.

i'd say all those factors were necessary for portland to pull out the win in houston. without the refs spotting portland about 8 points (maybe less, but portland only needed the 1 point handicap to push OT) it wouldn't have gone to OT.

regardless, it was a very competitive game and i'm looking forward to the rest of the series. :devilwink:

Dwight Howard scored on a baseline drive he clearly stepped out of bounds on, and was not called for goaltending twice. That's 6 points straight into Houston's pocket.

Dude, you're best saving your energy. Houston's whiny fans aren't ever going to, one, accept that the officiating was just as bad against Portland as it was the Rockets, and two, that the real reason they lost was they pulled a major choke job. We're Blazers fans. We know a good choke job when we see one (see: 2000 playoffs). Fair or not, many still blame the officials instead of where the blame really lies: the Blazers. The refs didn't help, but the Blazers stopped doing the things that got them the lead in the first place. The Rockets stopped doing the things that got them the lead, the Blazers got the Rockets on their heels, and they choked. Pointing the blame at the officials is the easy thing to do, rather than admitting your team choked.

i think you have reading comprehension problems or you're just blinded by your hate. i have been saying it's a combination of the rockets poor play, the blazers hitting clutch shots in the end and the refs.

Why yes, all the events that occurred, and all the people involved did influence the outcome!

    Thanks Captain obvious.

    Funny you're calling me blind.

I watched the game. You still can't admit how many bad calls went the way of the Rockets.

Clearly, this was a typo. He meant to say the "Rockets" spotted us 8 points in the end and choked the game away.

Did you forget earlier post where you solely blamed Scott Foster?

    4th Quarter Calls:
    12:00 - Lopez, offensive
    11:15 - Parsons
    7:43 - Mo, flagrant, 2 shots + possession
    5:43 - Mo
    5:43 - Lopez, tech
    5:43 - Lopez

    5:16 - Beverly
    4:58 - Lillard
    4:30 - Nic

    4:16 - Parsons
    4:00 - Lin
    3:58 - Nic
    3:49 - Lin
    3:47 - Lillard
    2:46 - Jones
    2:04 - Jones
    0:55 - Nic
    0:42 - Howard
    0:32 - LMA
    0:07 - Wes

That's an 8-12 advantage to HOU.

    Overtime calls:
    4:35 - LMA (for an and-1)
    4:09 - Lillard (for an and-1)

    2:49 - Lin
    1:43 - Lopez (gone)
    1:04 - LMA (gone)

    0:44 - Beverly (gone)
    0:25 - Wright
    0:25 - Nic

    0:17 - Garcia
    0:10 - Howard (gone)

And that looks like a 4-6 advantage for HOU in O/T.

The call #s were actually closer to equal than they appeared to be. But all of the BS calls (tech, flagrant, phantom foul-outs) other than the one against Howard went against POR. The refs tried to give HOU another advantage by reviewing Lopez's "farewell shoulder tap", but couldn't fabricate anything plausible.

The calls were bad throughout the game. Advantage went to Portland in the first half, but advantage clearly went to Houston in the second half. Houston didn't lose the game on the last foul called with 10 seconds remaining in the game.

Poor Houston fans - they have to put all their hopes into the Rockets because the Astros and Texans are so, so awful. Too bad for them their basketball team is coached by McHale.
