I just saw a bit on ESPN...Hardaway has issued an apology and then spewed some more anti-gay stuff in a Miami Herald interview...so...he's obviously not sorry...How he won't be around anyone who sleeps with the same sex...etc... Tracy McGrady said that it's his opinion and that he doesn't agree with Hardaway's views. (which is nice to here). Then John Amaechi came on and talked for a few minutes, it was a nice segment, Amaechi sounded like a pretty smart guy and I agreed with him. And it turns out Hardaway was working with the NBA in some small role and has now been let go (good move).

I mean, they have a right to do what they want. as long as they arent harming you, leave them alone.
There was no reason for him to blatantly dis the game community like he did, and say that he hates them. Its not that big of a deal if he is homophobic, there was no reason for him to say what he did publically, and the manner that he did it in.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>As for the non-hateful-self-assured-straight-male response to Amaechi's revelation, that was provided by Shaquille O'Neal.''If he was on my team, I guess I would have to protect him from the outsiders," O'Neal said in Boston on Wednesday night. ''I'm not homophobic or anything.... I'm not the type who judges people. I wish him well.''Definitely straight. While the Big Aristotle had a typically wise take on Amaechi, Hardaway sounded like a 6-year-old afraid of cooties.</div>http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/6477716...CP>1=9131

im alright with gay people but I don't mind tim's comments either. but I gess the only reason he apologized is bcoz the guys dat workd with at nba cares told him to.
ok here is my thoughts on this a really non star player came out and said he was gey after his time in the nba so he can get some big interview what I dont get why does he have to say it period just to make a scene I personally just believe it was a plea for publicity ok your gay who gives a crap really. then timmy comes out and says some stuff he should have kept quiet about Tim is just mad he never become a superstar and he washed out pretty much after shaq left him hanging in orlando for that big lake in the sky also known as 3 rings and millions upon millions. this is all just becuase two players want some publicity on semi good careers I dont care if your gay obviosly if you tell some people who you dont even know iether your atracted to them or you want some kind of reaction and if its negative you get to cry about it I dont hate gays but I dont like gays they dont want people to treat them normal they wanted to be treated special. personaly im str8 not like anybody cares becuase no one is gonna be openly gay in a forum ( just my little joke ).

It also doesn't hurt his book sales.

He wants to be able to live his life publically without humilation. And also - have you ever heard of periods when writing? you missed at least 10. Very hard to read what you write.
The thing about this Amaechi guy who is gay....who cares? He wasn't a big time player or even really recognized for anything. If an all-star player from NBA history came out then that would be different. But this Amaechi guy is a nobody and we really shouldn't care. He was just trying to sell a book. As for Hardaway's comments...that is just unacceptable. This is America where you have to tolerate everyone for their beliefs and way of life if it isn't hurting anyone. I can understand where Hardaway is coming from but he has to be smarter than that, than to say that on the air like that. I seriously don't blame the NBA for banning him from the all-star game.

Him coming out despite his average basketball career could lead to other NBA players coming out and not being ashamed of their sexual preference, considering he's the first to come out and say it. And hopefully people understand despite our freedom of speech right, there are consequences to what we say.
Their isn't anything wrong with disliking gay people, I personally don't mind them but I can understand why a person would be opposed to that kind of lifestyle. The mistake that Tim Hardaway made, was that he went public with his hate for gays. If he hates gay people, let him hate gay people. But, he should have never expressed his opinion to the media like that. It was obvious his comments were directed at John Amaechi. That's disrespectful towards Amaechi and towards his family. He was a great guy, he does many things involving charity/kids and he doesn't deserve to be ridiculed by another former NBA player. If I hated gay people, and an NBA player came out of the closest, I wouldn't say anything to embarrass him more than he probably already is. I respect him for coming out, and being honest to the world.
I don't see how it was TERRIBLE what he saidhe was just being honest...sorry but I'm homophobic too and I'll gladly admit itI'm sorry if the fags don't accept it but that's just the way life isI hate how gay people want everyone to feel pity for them whenever they get made fun of...honestly who's gonna be close with you and undress in the same locker room with a fudgepacker and a man who..you know what gay people do...I would be very uncomfortable
I totally agree im a white guy who rights rap lyrics and I live in gay ass colorado where there isnt much rap around I get sh*t talked to me becuase I have a different lifestyle I dont bi*ch I just make my lyrics harder we are all the same in this world but fags want to be treated different I tell you right now I dont want a fag on my team I want a bunch of guys who get intence knuckle down beer chuggin if you bump me im gonna bump you ten times harder back son of bitches not some pushover fag whos gonna get hurt at a comment
