Well, my friend, you could always go back to O-Live where they don't care about perceived insults and slights. Isn't that why you stopped going there and became a member here?

They were insulting each other. I edited them so that they were both insulting me. Sometimes I get a little too cute in how I moderate instead of bringing the hammer down, lol. My editing turnout to not stop the problem and only ended up having Nate to eventually do the dirty work.

I'm insecure and just want everyone to love me!

I had assumed due to Nate talking about the personal attacks that they were directed at him and they were ripping on him with information they had on him.

YOUR post, hypothetically speaking, seems like it was typed by someone with upsyndrome.

    Hypothetically speaking.

That's such a ridiculous double standard.

1 person says they called the post mindless, another says it was insinuating that the poster is mindless.

Not necessarily from you but the hate and distaste in this thread is abominable.

When you attack what someone posts it causes them to defend or explain further their position or idea.

When you attack/insult someone personally it causes them just to insult you back. All real discussion ends and it just turns into a pissing match.

Sure if it was done in a civilized manner most replies though are god that was stupid etc. It makes people defensive and turns threads into a cock measuribg contest. Rarely do people use actual stats or basketball terminology to counter an argument.

I see your point and agree. Posters can stay within the rules and still make their insulting point.

I think common sense rules over everything else. Papag got suspended/banned because of his history on this board, not because of one comment. I don't think there is a strict interpretation of rules going, we have real people looking at the situation in it's entirety and making a judgement call. It''s a tough job because inherently when you are given discretion and have to make a tough call, some are not going to like it (no matter what call you make). But can anyone really say the mods here are out of control. Anyone who has any experience with other forum chat rooms would probably say this is one of the easiest going and non regulated chat rooms around. The mods here aren't perfect, but they do a pretty damn good job, IMO.

I do agree Nate is a little controversial as a mod. He is emotional and times irrational . . . but this is a volunteer job (as far as I know) and he does spend a lot of time and energy trying to keep this place in check.
