I wish people would stop bringing up the 100-point game. Wilt had about 62 shot attempts in that game, and his team kept feeding him the ball in the paint against some guy who didn't even contend with him. Dajuan Wagner scored 100 points in a high school game...and there were a couple of guys who did it in college (one in the NCAA)...so it's no big deal. Jordan could've scored 100 points easily if all his team did was feed him the ball every play...

of Wilt's entire career he played against Kareem in I think his last 3 seasons...Russell and Reed were 6'9 at best and neither posed much of problem for Wilt offensively or defensively. Granted Russell was on another level than Reed, but on the real Wilt had his way with everyone in his day..Bill Russell included.

You gotta look at it this way too: Wilt=Center MJ= SG/PG
MJ had to score alot of outside points, and he had alot more defense get through than Wilt, who was an inside man (and probably a bit taller than most guys of his time)

Of course Wilt is gonna score more if all he does is layups and dunks, and even if he would miss he would probably get his own rebound.

MJ however, being shorter than Wilt and also being an outside player; is naturaly gonna get less points and rebounds because he wasnt the biggest man on the court, and had more distance to the basket when he took a shot.

What makes MJ so great (THE greates) is his talent, inventiveness, his ability to make game-winning and impossible stuff and of course his athleticism.
I doubt Wilt ever made a game-deciding outside shot, even if he did he wont come near to how many MJ has made.

WIlt is very great but the only reason why he avergaed so much was because back then no one played defense, and also he was one of the only or only footer back then. But dont get me wrong i still think he is one of the greatest centers ever. but if you put him against the teams now that are more concentrated on defense he would only average about 25ppg.

Thats why I hate the "GREATEST EVER" line. You can only rank by position. Wilt would kill MJ playin Center. MJ vice versa. Comparisons and rankings by position is easier to do
