The Wild dipped into the college free-agent market for another local talent, as Fridley native Jarod Palmer signed a one-year deal worth about $700,000.

Palmer, a versatile 6-foot forward, led Miami (Ohio) in scoring his senior season with 18 goals and 45 points in 44 games. He joins Nate Prosser (Colorado College) of Elk River as a recent college free-agent pickups by the Wild.

Palmer's contract includes a $90,000 signing bonus and would draw him a $67,500 salary if he plays in the minors next season.
