Seriously. Knick/Pelicans both have 24 picks between now and 2028. By contrast, we have a grand total of......11.

Technically we don’t have any 1st rounders to offer until The one we traded is used which at latest could be 2030. That means we can’t offer 1st with any deal until that one is used. Really ties our hands on any kind of deal we could offer. Good thing we didn’t at least get a 1st rounder in clips trade

I did not know Randle was a defender. Watching him this year here and there it didn't seem like that was the case at all. If indeed that is true that changes things dramatically and I would be far more open to this trade. I'd still GREATLY prefer someone who is elite at defending the perimeter.

    That's the hope for Reddish.

This kinda move would be a high upside swing in hopes of having Dame/ Billups/Nurk set them all right

Maybe Houston would like some of those picks? It looks like they only have a net of about plus three picks over those years. I would much rather have Wood than Randle. The problem is that New York has no expiring contracts to send to Houston. Which is why I would rather deal with New Orleans.

Each? Or they have 12 and we have 11? Not much of a difference?

Or the Blazers send out 2 scrubs, Elleby and Snell. This issue you list is really not an issue.

Jody loves saving money instead of competing so yes. CJ for a bag of potatoes and more cash considerations

The first post included the word 'each'. Didn't include it in the second mention but yes. both teams EACH have 24 picks between now and 2028.

Seems unnaturally high. I dont think it's right.

Some of the picks theyre owed are contingent. Not sure if theyre being counted multiple times in your number

Perhaps. Was going by what the FanSpo trade machine had listed. It shows both team having 24 picks. When you click on the dropdown, it details the years and where they come from along with protections.

The deals can be setup differently from NY and PDX point of view. So 2 trades from PDX but 1 from NY. So randle plus reddish without filler for CJ.

Edit actually maybe not ... We can do one but they need two for cam.... but that doesn't help match CJ.

Ya that's a weird calculation. Doesnt consider protections or contingencies and most of those are second rounders.

@illmatic99 (can't get your last post to quote)

"Ya that's a wrong calculation. It essentially says we owe CHI 6 picks just cuz our protection is until 2028."

I wasn't talking about Portland's picks. However, it shows us not having our 1st this year, but having it in '23, '24, '25 '26. '27 and '28. Not sure where it shows us owing CHI 6 picks.

Do you know how many firsts? They are worth 10x a second rounder so that's a much more useful stat IMO. I feel like NO has way better draft assets with all those Lakers picks but I don't have a list.

Doesn't bother me at all now as this rebuilding franchise shouldn't be trading away firsts.

They have a bunch from the Davis trade, (Lakers) and some from the Holliday trade. (Bucks). FanSpo is showing 13 1st Rnd picks for the Pels between now and 2028.

    (3 page piece.....here is a brief excerpt:)

"AE: They’re better positional fits. Portland needs a forward, and Randle would compliment Lillard and fit with Simons and Lillard. McCollum is an o. New York needs a shooter and primary scorer that can create. McCollum would slide right in with Fournier in New York’s backcourt, Barret could take on more of the offense, and Rose is back in the sixth man role that Thibodeau prefers him in.

They may be a wash in overall contributions. But they would fit the other team’s roster better than their current team. Also, Depending on what’s salaries are going where NYK may have to throw in a fist as well.

    Rob Ryan (RR)
Randle for Mccollum makes the most sense, in my opinion. It might seem lateral, but it’s re-allocating talent to a needed position. Randle reminds me a little of Zach Randolph with better defense, and if you had a Randle/Nurkic tandem down low with Dame/Simons/Little spreading the floor and slashing, I think it greatly raises Portland’s ceiling and balances their offensive attack. Probably the most balanced since LaMarcus Aldridge left.

Mccollum taking over as the starting point guard in New York would give him the opportunity to blow up at the position he is actually a better fit for. I think Mccollum is more talented than Randle, and him finally being showcased would actually bring more attention to the Knicks. Randle doesn’t need to be a 24 point-per-game scorer in Portland; he just needs to be an inside presence to help balance the team."

their 2022 is obligated to Charlotte, but it is lottery protected. Other than that they have 6 of their own 1st's and 7 incoming 1st's. However, 3 of those incoming 1st's are pick swaps. Not sure how you could trade those
