Here's my answer from another post: "Hughes should be fired just for being dumb; and this maybe explains why Leonard took so long to develop; I know that at one time Leonard said something to the effect that he had been practicing all the wrong things for the first couple years here. And this is also a reflection on the head coach, and makes me wonder about him; I also wonder why he hasn't tried to hire some new assistant coaches who might be higher quality; did the Blazers make a try at Monte Williams? And I know there have been a couple other guys available who specialize at defense." And in another post of mine I state I believe ultimately the reason Aldridge will leave is because of the coaching; because they don't hold him accountable and ask enough of him. So yeh, maybe there should be more than one firing. Is Thibideau still available? (I guess you can see I am not in a very good mood this morning).
That's what I think. Tell the guy he fucked up, and put him on a short leash. But I don't see how it had any detrimental effect whatsoever on whether LaMarcus decides to stay or go, or if, prior to LaMarcus making an actual decision, other free agents decide to come here or not. No harm, no foul.
Terrible PR and he should get yelled at or fined but no I care about the work he does with players not PR blunder. It's not as if this hurt our free agent chances or anything.
Under Hughes, none of our big guys have developed as well as expected. Some got worse, like Batum. As I said in my earlier post in this thread, posters keep saying that we should hire a big man coach. Hughes is so ineffective, that he's invisible
Why fire him? All he did is tell the truth.. I dont blame the guy. Atleast he doesnt lie like Olshey and Mr I want to retire the best blazer ever and i'll resign here I dont blame Kim, hes a real dude
You are delusional if you think they are going to take a bad situation and make it worse by firing the one person in this organization who can help develop the young guys we just picked up.
If the blazers were telling Monroe that LA would probably re-sign if he signed as well, and then he hears about the Hughes video, that might be enough to burn any bridge built during his recent meeting with the blazers. I'm not impressed with Hughes. I doubt that Olshey consults with Kim Hughes on a regular basis unless he's talking about Meyers. Remember that Terry Stotts didn't go to the draft combine with Olshey, because player acquisition is Olshey's job.
I am surprised no one brought this up, but it looks like the timing of the Greg Monroe to Bucks announcement came shortly after this made it out? Did this help Monroe to make his mind up? Then in turn Monroe made LMA's mind up? We get neither because it was leaked Kim said LMA is gone? Im pretty concerned about the fallout effect of this.
A max player should be a guy that has enough swagger to feel he'd bring winning to any team he goes to. If Monroe waited for LA's decision, he lacks the confidence in his own game to be a franchise guy..I don't want any player in Portland who doesn't feel playing with Dame is a chance to win. I think Monroe just liked the Bucks situation and felt he'd climb up the ranks in the east before battling for recognition in the west
He'll probably get a reprimand, but there was nothing malicious and it's not like his slip up actually has any impact whatsoever on whether or not LaMarcus stays or goes. Move on, nothing to see here.
