I'm not just talking about free agency. Even if a team is over the cap anyways you can sign a guy to the MLE. Like NY did with Duhon who has been great for them.

Players try to persuade where they get traded sometimes too, and most players I'm sure would want to play in a big market (especially LA with there weather).

I think one of the reasons some of those guys didn't sign with Chicago was because they didn't want to follow in the footsteps of Jordan and have all those expectations put on them

Duhon went to New York because of D'Antoni and him promising Duhon the starting spot. He obviously had no future in Chicago. If we had a different guard situation, I think Duhon would have stayed in Chicago over New York for equal money. But Duhon would have been dumb not to jummp at that.

Some other teams, like Boston, were going after him a bit, but not offering him the same role. Duhon had to take the biggest role possible, because that's his chance to make the most money possible.

Although one really interesting free agent factor is the Obama factor. It'll be interesting to see if Obama could have any impact on free agency.

Like say Bulls trade Nocioni ,get that 2010 capspace. Can Obama deliver us Lebron? Lebron would become almost presidential like. The first basketball player if you will.

And if Obama isn't spending our tax dollars on bribing players to come to Chicago, then he's not doing his job as a Chicago poltician in the White House well enough.

You think we'll actually seek legal action?

That's a secondary step. First, we'll file an appeal if and when Miles' salary gets put back on our books.

Hmm... you know... the appeal might have worked prior to that email... but I don't know if the league is really in the mood to help us

Didn't everyone know it was going to happen unless Miles was basically shot in the knees and was physically not able to even walk? Hell, they'd still find a way to put him in for a minute or two. Don't act surprised.

On another note, wouldn't it have been a better idea to say that "if Miles plays X amount of minutes" instead of 10 games? Whatever the case, he pulled down 10 points and 7 boards tonight. That's considered a good game for Oden's standards this year. Maybe he really can play.

The Blazers disagree with you. Not surprising, given your other posts.

I don't think anyone is arguing that he can't play. I think the Blazers will argue that continuing to play will cause long-term catastrophic damage to his knee joints and that the physicians hired by the NBA and NBA PA agree. Therefore, the Blazers shouldn't be responsible for Darius' decision to risk his health.

I'm not saying we should. What course of action would you propose?

I think the fact that an independent doctor and an NBA doctor both concluded that Darius was done should give us a little recourse.

Recourse with who exactly though? The NBA? Do we appeal to the NBA or do we go to a court of law?

    Then what does this mean?

I have no clue as to what course of action the Blazers will or should take. I've heard a few things, but it's all been second hand.

I think first you would have to go to the League. Get this loophole taken care of in-house.
