Actually Mags, With the talent Meyers displays and the lack of improvement we saw from him last season show us there is something drastically wrong. Either he is a retard and isn't coachable or he had no coaching.
The kid plays like he thinks he is 6'7 and still in High school. It didn't change all season. But then I ddn't see anyone on the team make any progress including the team as a whole. So I think it probably is too early to get down on Meyers. I will give it about 10 games this coming season to make a decision. It won't take long.

It's what I'm seeing too. He seems like he has offensive talent, but I doubt he ever becomes anything on the defensive end. For a team that was dead last on defense, we need more from our center of the future.

Like what? We are not getting Al Horford for him that is as likely as suggesting Lebron. I'm all for trading Matthews if we can get an above average NBA starter but I don't see any team offering those up. Most teams will value him as a reserve or stopgap starter and he is worth at least that much or more to us. Sure we should listen to offers and hope a team gives us a great trade but if not I'm happy to keep Matthews.

So, how many of you are losing sleep over trading Withey?

Should we have broken the bank to give Smith/Williams/Babbitt more time to develop?

What we need are more guys like Lillard (and hopefully CJ) who come in and play and don't make excuses.

No doubt about it but We need a coach too and I ain't seeing that either. If it was just Meyers it would point to Meyers but he isn't the only one stuck in park.

Well I guess even if you are person that doesnt like or want Meyers long term if his offensive game is getting better that will only increase his trade value. Since this team is not going to be a title contender I have no problems seeing if Meyers can develop defensively over the next 1-2 years.

didnt Myers go through like a huge growth spurt towards the end of High School? That to me seems like it would take time to transition. Learning to play like a Guard or a 3, then having to completely change the way you have learned to play because of your height.

If said growth spurt is true, I can imagine that would be difficult from learning to play perimeter D all the time to Post Defense.

So for a SF backup to Batum, you want to get rid of our starting SG and back up C. No thanks.

Lets take a look at per 36 stats from last season for our current cheap player Dorell Wright and Thad Young
    pp36
    thad 14.8
    Wright 9.2
OK, this stat is clearly in favor of Thad.

how bout 3pt shooting % last season
    Thad 12.5%
    Wright 40%
Wow, thad cant shoot from outside at all.

    Reb per36
    Thad 7.5
    Wright 3.8
Clearly Thad is far better at rebounding.

    Assist per 36
    Thad 1.6
    Wright 1.9
Both are pretty bad here, but Thad strait up sucks at this.

FT% we have to have a team that can score from the stripe
    Thad 57%
    Wright 85%
Holy crap, how can Thad be this bad

    PER
    Thad 18.2
    Wright 16
Thad wins, but not by much

So I would rather have Thad than Wright, but not by much, especially on this team. And I certainly think giving up Wes and Leonard is crazy here.

This one would interest me, but I see no chance they would do this trade even if they decide to get rid of Monroe. And if they did, they would be looking for a quality starting SF like Batum.

Yes. Stop posting trade machine scenarios with those two players for a couple of days.

How many 6'9" SG are there really? Not many because they get their ankles busted by 6'4" SG and get their balls stolen right and left. Batum full time at SG is a receipt for high turnovers and guards busting towards the hoops.

That's funny because I remember watching Batum defend PGs with ease.

    Ding Ding Ding!!

Wes can be improved upon, but he does a pretty good job and actually works great without the ball, which is needed next to Lillard. Leonard I think will turn out, but is at least worth more the the five year vet Thad young who still shoots worse than most middleschoolers.
