Agree, in part, both sides are wrong. But... these two sides have been going at each other in Portland, for decades. Has everyone forgot about Portlands great anarchist riot of 1993? I have not. I owned a business in SE Portland, and spent the night locked inside with a loaded shotgun. The skinheads planned a rally in a park. The anarchist organized a demonstration against them. It turned into a riot.
Portland mayor and police need to get their shit together. Known this was coming for a long time, pull in help from surrounding areas. Dont allow it. Period. Its not a protest, its a riot. We are letting .0001% of the population take over. Oh and how are children/minors down there? Great parenting once again.

From what I hear, none of the surrounding area Police or Sheriffs are willing to help Portland. The risk to the cops is too high that they will be brought up on charges of some kind.
I did not live in Western Oregon then. But Portland has always been different place. Even when Governor McCall was very high profile Nationally, Portland was different place, sort of odd man land.

Glad the cops are doing their job. I was just reply to the idea we need the national guard to come in. 13 people arrested, 4 minor injuries. The police got this.

Until they start breaking the law they are allowed to roam around. When they have broken the law it seems the cops have been there to arrest them.
But the laws of peaceful protests have been broken repeatedly. They have the option to cut them off or so I read.
