Is this a joke? Eric Maynor had a weak rookie season in 2009 after being picked 20th, and has had an even worse season each and every season since. This year he's shooting a bit below his normally bad average at .292. The only question is why he's in the league.

    Neither is a "big name".

We got Maynor for a trade exception and a 2nd Round Pick. Who cares what he's putting up THIS year. When we got him LAST year, he was serviceable and allowed us to rest Lillard as much as we could. Anything was an upgrade over Smith and Price. Lastly, you are severely underrating Eric Maynor pre-ACL injury. Before that injury, he was widely considered to be one of the better backups in the league.

Because he is still one of the top 100 pg's in he world and his shooting percentage this season is irrelevant if he not playing consistent minutes. He is a PG not a SG. He has value.

answering the OP, yes I think Blazers make a move for a backup PF/C, something along the lines of a Hawes/Bass/Koufus etc

According to Paul Allen, probably not. They'll listen to offers but nothing major is in the works. I think Stotts has a lot of confidence in these guys.

But Freeland has been doing so well. It will destroy morale to say to Joel that after all his work, he is now being replaced.

I suggested Batum, Williams, Wright and Leonard for Deng and Varejao and someone thing it was a crappy idea. I think it would make us more of a legit contender.

the biggest worry for me is not getting a legit pg back in the deal. CJ might be able to play there for a bit but I'm not as confident as I am with Mo there. Varejao and Deng would be huge for us, Varejao would be a great 3rd big coming off the bench for us.

Mo is as much a point guard as Jamal Crawford is a point guard.... which is to say, not at all.

Mo led the league in assists off the bench last I checked. Jamal would never ever accomplish this.

I get it... The board elected Scapegoat for having only the 4ht best record in the league is Mo... I will continue to adjust my expectations for this board accordingly.
