I think that's a reasonable take. I'm not worried about the Grizzlies. They have a really tough schedule and they're young. I think that they fade pretty quickly after the All Star break. The Spurs will hang around, but they feel like they're running on fumes. The Pelicans have the easiest schedule, but it's easy to overreact to the pasting that they put on the Blazers in the 3rd quarter last night. That was the worst of the Blazers against probably the best of the Pelicans. They're young and I don't think they play at that level with consistency. The Blazers have a relatively easy remaining schedule too, and they have a lot more experience on their side. They also have the probability of more reinforcements coming. I'm sticking with the Blazers.
I think the problem with those reinforcements is rust and bringing them back I think will make the team for a short time at least worse as they try to get guys up to speed, get roles re-sorted out and all of that. I love that your sticking with your team though. I think Ja Morant is incredible and they have a really solid team coming around, I would've taken him #1 overall, though I realize the pels kind of "had" to take Zion that kind of athlete doesn't come around often. I'm somewhat surprised that Ja's taken off so quickly but I think Memphis will only get better even with a tough schedule. The Blazers have proven to me they can lose to anyone, so the "easy" schedule doesn't really do much for me. I hope Nas is back soon as outside of Dame my favorite part of the season has been he and Trent's development.
I think that they bring both Nurk and Collins back slowly by playing them with the second unit. I have to think that even rusty Nurk is better than Swannigan and Collins is way better than whatever other options we have at backup PF. I hope Little gets back too, because he's just fun to watch play. I understand your skepticism about the Blazers' chances, but the fun thing about sports is seeing teams take a negative season and turn it around. Dame has lead such turn-arounds before. None of the other teams competing for that 8th seed have someone like that. But, the best part is that nothing depends on what any of us around here think about the situation. We get to sit back and watch it unfold.
generally, threads unravel, whether it's here or on my underwear....which kind would you rather be in?
I'm starting to believe they will not make the playoffs. But, if they do..... Ah, who am i kidding, they'll get swept. Tonight's game is extremely important.
I didn't have a chance to keep up with the game thread live last night and was reading through it this morning. Some of you same posters who are complaining in this thread were talking about how we're good again and raving about the team in the 1st quarter.
Your memory is better than mine I don't remember at all what I was thinking during most of that game last night. heh.
Finishing 8th is better than 9th. Finishing 15th is also better than 9th. Ending the season in the 9th-11th range is a total failure. Amongst other things, it shows that your "brain trust" doesn't have a good grasp on your talent level.
No, I like an edge. Even playing games at the carnival. I was 16 and I noticed a couple of the bottles were really close together so I put my quarter out there. Knocked down both those bottles with my first throw and got another one with the second throw. won the prize. Didn't need the third ball. Only game I played the whole time I was there.
Man all this hassle to make the 8th seed to face Lebron James and Anthony Davis on the road in a series? Has Lebron ever even lost in the 1st round? Let alone upset by an 8th seed? That alone has happened like twice in history. Get fucking real about this bullshit playoffs for THIS YEAR. Let’s run it back next year healthy
