Maybe not, now that he has revealed what a gaping asshole he is. HE JUST BROADCAST THAT HE WAS DISAPPOINTED THAT NETS PICKED UP HIS OPTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Does anything more need to be said, other than Nets will be very willing to include him in a trade?
I'm saying you're being over reactionary to a simple request from an employee to his boss. In no way do I think Sean is doing anything basketball wise than what he believes will get him a spot in our rotation. Despite getting rave reviews he's now found himself relegated to the bench and is having trouble figuring out how to work his way back in. Maybe he doesn't see a light at the end of the tunnel in Frank's doghouse or maybe he's just anxious to get the second deal signed because it's something that weighs on him with the uncertainty of his role on our team. I know we'd like every player to just put that kinda stuff out of their heads and play like it's a non issue but for some kids it just is. I think he genuinely likes it here and just wanted to know we wanted him as a player and not as some trade chip.
REALLY? That's what you interpreted the situation as being? Tell me, when was the last time an INCREDIBLY disappointing 1st round pick was unhappy that his team picked up his 3rd year option. I anxiously await your reply/
So you feel, based on SWat's performance last season, and his performance in this years exhibition season (including his turning down a starting assignment), SWat has the right to make demands of ANY TYPE from Nets' Management? Is that what you are saying? I also anxiously await your reply.
I see no reason that a player shouldn't be able to have a discussion with management about his contract, be it 1-15 on our roster. He was simply letting his feelings be heard and i'm sure Rod told him why he decided to pick up his option anyways.
First, I don't think he's been incredibly disappointing. Incredibly is a little strong. Lots of players in his draft area did not produce right off the bat. If a player thinks he's undervalued, I would think he would want to hit the market. Do you think most people aren't self-interested? They should be. The teams are.
I don't think anything has changed at this point because he didn't say that he wanted out of NJ and as far as we've been told he's nothing short of a good teammate. I don't think this will scare off anyone that wasn't already interested in his potential nor do I think it will stop anyone from picking up the phone if they already haven't. I think he's an anxious kid who told a reporter what happened and if GMs aren't dumb enough to think they can successfully lowball Rod because of something as minor as this then best of luck to them.
For all we know, he is being honest and just wants a longterm deal and it's not even about the money.
And I'm choosing to believe he is a moron that just brought down his trade value. Let's consider other second year players that have been incredibly successful. Wouldn't they rather their teams hadn't picked up their 3rd year options so they could become UFAs, and make LOTS OF MONEY in their 3rd year. And yes, SWat has been an INCREDIBLE disappointment, even turning down a start in the exhibition season, when NO PLAYER on the Nets needs court time more than SWat. Now I hope Nets sit SWat this entire season, than pick up his 4th year option. SWat is quite the MAHROOOOON.
Not sure why you would think so. Any GM who thinks that players aren't looking out for themselves is kidding themselves. Yes, most probably would rather be UFAs. Why wouldn't they? When you compare him to other players in his draft area, I don't see how you could say that. Especially since the 2nd season has barely begun. Making decisions out of spite isn't what I would call reasonable.
So tell me, when was the last time you heard a 2nd year player lament that his 3rd year option was picked up?
No. To me, it means that SWat is an idiot. You are free to feel otherwise. I now expect him to get traded this season.
