This I believe....."I just saw him at the whorehouse." This I do not believe..."I was just walking by"
I really can't say I was overly excited to get him at this point in his career. We really need to hold out for someone better than 35% from deep. We already have those on the roster.
I like Chandler and would have been okay with acquiring him with the TPE but maybe Denver didn't want him to go to a division rival and it's not like he's a big difference maker type player.
I wish someone that sometimes work for Blazers Broadcasting will post a thread about his sources telling him that Wilson Chandler is going to the Sixers.
35% from the 3 is just fine for a 2-way SF like Chandler. But Olshey consistently snubs defenders except for Aminu and Davis (and Olshey gave away one of those). He values (and thus overpays) the wrong players. If you're only willing to trade for stars, you won't get far. We lack defenders (just Aminu now) and have lacked a SF since Batum (for whom Olshey got nothing, in fact, paid a team to take Vonleh).
I don't think Aminu is any better of a defender than Harkless. And I don't think Chandler is any better of a defender than either one. They are all about the same especially on the perimeter where we need help. So why add a 3rd one for even more money? I would rather develop a younger player. I agree with this article: https://www.denverstiffs.com/2018/4/25/17275110/nuggets-player-evaluation-wilson-chandler-veteran "He’s not as explosive of a jumper as he used to be, and he doesn’t have an above average wingspan. He has to rely on the fundamentals to get boards, but he shows a commitment to it as a small forward." "At this point in his career, Chandler is not a small forward. He’s going to continue to slow down, his lateral mobility is going to decrease, and his rebounding should play at power forward. Like you said....we need a SF
I'm going to convince myself that Neil Olshey is letting these other players go by the wayside because he is working on something bigger. Of course, Neil targets something bigger every year, then it falls through. But this year will be different. Yes it will. It will. Yes. It will.
I for one have not given up that glimmer of hope (not sarcasm). Butler and Leonard are still out there. Let there be light.
When i hear the name Wilson Chandler i think of a player catching the ball, faking a shot, drives inside and then gets called for a travel. I wonder how many times it happened to him. I vividly remember him doing it every time i watched him.
I’ll only be bummed about Neil not getting Wilson Chandler if it ends up being our only chance at using out TPE. I don’t think it’s close to as sure of a thing that we will be able to use it as some others.
Why is this it’s own thread? A non Blazer signing with a team that isn’t the Trail Blazers. Don’t we have a generic free agency thread?
1) You are post #37. That would have been a large block in another thread. 2) Why has it gotten 37 posts? Because Wilson Chandler has been the starting SF for the Nuggets for 5 seasons. (He missed one of those seasons due to injury.) He plays defense. SF is our position of need. Today Denver PAID another team to take his contract for free. Olshey failed to take advantage.
Wilson Chandler is 31, and barely a passable starter in this league. His PER (granted, not the end all be all) was *worse* than Amuni and Harkless and those two are barely passable as starters on a lottery team. Let's not act like Chandler was going to put this team over the top. The only thing he'd do is increase their lux tax amount.
We're going over any spending limits to keep Nurkic; forget about conserving them. A short contract for a true SF is what we need. This guy isn't a league star? Well this is all we can get. Stop waiting for the LeBrons and face reality. Now we get nobody.
