I'm down for martin. I'm guessing any possible trade would involve some combination of the same players/draft pick so I'm on board with any of it
So I looked and I think Denver would consider this deal, with the addition of our first rounder. http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=oh2yd76 As for the K-Mart concept... I think Minny would rather have Crabbe, McCollum and T. Rob. I don't think they need the first rounder in this scenario. http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=q24h9ln
What really jumps out at me more than his shooting is his attempts at the line. Even this season (small sample size obviously), he's averaging 5.3 attempts per game. He has a career line of 6 a game, so this isn't anything out of the norm. What this means is him having the ability to get to the line and draw fouls. Something our team isn't efficient in as a team. Doing this can give us points when shots aren't falling. And I wouldn't be surprised if he could be a 12 point scorer off the bench on 10-12 FGA per game.
For the record I am down with Martin. He gets banged up a lot though. I rank them Martin > Afflalo > Stay Pat > Chandler Afflalo is real close to Martin though due to not getting as injured and his contract ending 1 year sooner.
I am a little surprised to see he is turning 32 in 3 weeks. I would have guest 28 or 29. I actually like that his contract runs for another 2 years. I don't want to trade young players for a half year rental. But he sure lit it up the last two games he played back in November. His defense still sucks though. I would rather commit minutes to to Crabbe.
I think with the additions Houston and Memphis have made.... and waiting to see how Waiters works in OKC too, Portland needs to seriously considering making a consolidation trade for a 6th man.
I agree. I think this summer won't really be anything "WOW" in terms of acquisitions. Maybe an MLE player and resigning all the current talent. I am all on board with that. Having Afflalo or Martin locked for another year would be a Godsend actually.
Another thing that would be cool with getting Martin. He has played for Houston and OKC. I think he would take extra effort to show them what they are missing.
Order of preference for me: Afflalo, Chandler, Martin. If Martin was younger/more durable he'd be higher.
Yeah it's exactly the same contract as Afflalo, with the exception of a "team option" after this season.
Yeah, 7-8 mil for a legit 6th man is definitely reasonable. This could be the start of the open wallet Allen Blazers!
K-Mart has missed a ton of games over his career. Over the 840 possible games he has played 629 of them, and he is 31.
Did you miss the part where he played 77 games at 27.2 MPG the season before last and 68 games at 32.0 MPG last season. The guy breaks down with nagging, non-career threatening injuries if he's called on to play too many minutes. Give him 20 minutes off the bench and he'll be fine. In spite of his age, his production remains as high as ever. He has averaged 20.9 PTS/36 for his career, was at 21.5 PTS/36 last season and 24.7 PTS/36 this year (small sample size) before the wrist injury. We're not looking for a No. 1 option, or even a starter. We need a guy who can give us reliable bench scoring and Martin can do that. BNM
Missing a quarter of your career is a pretty big red flag, especially after 30. Wilson Chandler's injuries concern me as well. I'm just a spurned Blazer fan though...
