Afflalo would not come cheap like these other guys. Unless they think they will lose him this summer. If the Blazers trade for him they need to go all in to re-sign him. Do they like him better than Wes? I do like him as well though. But I think Denver does too. Prince is an interesting idea as he would come cheap.
I know I've heard something like this before from another GM we had. I believe he mentioned the words "Let The Cake Bake."
Fwiw Afflalo could also be an UFA this summer as he has a player option. He'd also be solid insurance if Wes bolts for bigger money.
"This is the second trade the Nuggets have executed in the last week as they begin to retool their roster. The Nuggets are involved in trade talks for other players including Arron Afflalo and Randy Foye, according to sources." http://espn.go.com/boston/nba/story...de-jameer-nelson-nate-robinson-denver-nuggets Interesting for a team who has won 4 in a row.
They won't lose him this summer because it's a team option, not player option. So any team that picks up Afflalo could keep him until the summer of 2016 if they wanted.
Are you sure? Granted Hoopshype has been wrong before, but they show him as a player option http://hoopshype.com/salaries/denver.htm
If he opts out then you take the cap space, not a big deal. It's not like were giving up any big pieces to acquire him.
True if you are giving up players who will not be here next year anyways. Although I don't like giving up a 1st round draft pick for a half year rental on a bench player. I am all for it if Neil thinks he can resign him. But how far down the pecking order will he be come July? When will Neil get around to making him an offer? After LMA, Wes, and Rolo? Does someone else make him an offer July 1? Will and Claver would be OK
I really like CJ and I have high hopes for him but Afflalo, in some ways, is really a best case scenario for CJ. So if we can get that skill set now and the experience that goes with it for someone who MIGHT be that someday I would really have to consider that. Im not sure if the Nuggs would even be interesting in CJ being part of a deal. Normally I wouldnt want to include CJ in deal but this is one that makes sense to me. I wonder more and more if it would be easier to get Afflalo by including a third team.
I doubt Portland trades Wright, especially since he's been playing much better this season. I also doubt Denver will part with Gee, since he is still very young.
Maybe not... I think I needed Crabbe's salary to make it work though. Let me play around with it and see if it still works without Crabbe
