Ugh. I like Turner and all. But this is a single. An Olsheyesque move. I'd be fine with it, but want more in the offseason.

Turner's salary is 18M which is kind of an awkward number for Portland. I'd wonder if this is only a two team trade or if a 3rd is involved

Windhorst is clueless. Believe who you wanna believe, but dont be surprised if/when nothing he says actually ends up happening. I remember him being one of the main voices behind Wilson Chandler and the Blazers couple years ago. Every year since then I listen to him less and less. A lot of hot air

Nurk is better but Myles is a better fit if we're getting Ben Simmons.

That I can agree with, although Turner isn't that good of a shooter either. 33% from outside the last two years.

Turner would be a GREAT fit. Guy who fits defensive scheme abd can stretch the floor.
Also think a change of scenery would be motivating for him……
Nurk is not better than turner. If anything they are in the same level if turner isnt better

The only reason to make a move for Turner is if you have a deal lined up for Nurk. I've put a few ideas together in the larger thread combining rumors.

Only thing Turner does better is block shots. he's not a better overall defender (gets moved in post easily and Nurk is better playing the passing lanes and is a much better rebounder which is also part of defense) he's not a better playmaker, he's not a better screener, he doesn't get to the line as much, hes not better with his back to the basket. He's a better shooter, but still below average.

Only way I'm making this swap is if we have plans to get Simmons or if I'm 100% certain that Nurk isn't gonna re-sign. This dude is a step above a project, I challenge anyone to watch five consecutive Pacers games and come back with the same enthusiasm

    Disagree.
Better 3 pt shooter by far on higher volume.
WAY better shot blocker and can switch into smaller players better than Nurk.
Gets moved in the post? So what? Who dumps down to their bigs on a consistent basis anymore?
May not be as good of a screener but a much better threat moving towards the basket on the role

Abd let’s not act like Nurk is an effective scorer in the paint…I think we’re all done watching that

not saying thats the idea, but theres possibility they want turner and also want to keep nurk

maybe they dont want nurk anymore or they know or hear noise about nurk not wanting to stay there anymore

teams aren't gonna change the way they defend us with Turner and his 33% rate standing out there, so his spacing is only good in theory.

Size is not just about posting up. Turner doesn't play up to his measurements. He is an absolute awful rebounder. Rebounding is probably the most valuable trait for a big IMO. Lose the rebounding battle, and you will probably lose the game.

So what if he can switch on the perimeter, he aint keeping any guard in todays NBA in front of him, neither is any other center. Nurk also averages twice as many steals, and most of them come away from the basket.

You can shit on Nurks post play all you want, he's still better than Turner around the rim. He's got no post game whatsoever. All his buckets around the rim come on putbacks. He's not getting any opposing big in foul trouble the way Nurk did against the Nets, for example.

Turner is a better defender for Chauncy's defensive scheme. I would say that to maximize Nurk's defensive prowess - you need to go Stotts and not switch as aggressively as Chauncy wants.

    This would be absolutely amazing!
    You know why?
Because we almost always end up with the second guy. So, it means we'll actually get Sabonis!!!!
