I'd rather lose to Stanford and have Wisconsin crack them for the nation to see in the Rose Bowl and play OK State! Our offense and theirs are fun to watch and a great game could be had. Further I think winning your bowl game is more important than winning your conference, money for school and recruits follow and watch bowls... Keep in mind many think we'll be playing the Sooners not the Cowboys if that scenario played out, and the Sooners is just like playing Wisconsin, LSU and Bama! Huge lines and they have fast skilled players to boot. So I take option #4 Win out and create a new defensive scheme either with slants or rovers to out finesse that size we'll be seeing in the bowls... We'll know a bunch more after we see Wisconsin play a few games away from home too....
I don't like your scenarios, but out of the two I'd take a Fiesta Bowl win. Badgers should roll against their two remaining tough opponets -- MSU and Ill.
haha dont take stuff so personal. You dont see Nate crying when he did the same scenario deal and I mock him about it. I do enjoy your All Cap "!!!" posts. They amuse me, so keep it up please!
If Oregon wants to take that "next step" they're going to have to beat teams like Wisconsin. The Badgers are a very good team but so are we. I'd just like to wait and see who we play first before all these hypothetical questions keep popping up.
or at least before we freak out about how a team will kill us, who we might not even play. Why dont we also start threads about how Bama would kill us?!?! :MARIS61:
assuming Bama goes undefeated. And with Wisconsin being the Gods they are.. they probably would go undefeated to the Natty as well.
The problem with your hypothetical is that if Oregon loses to Stanford they will NOT go to a BCS Bowl.
not entirely true. As MM brought out that if Oregon demolishes most competition but only has two losses to #1 and # whatever Stanford is.. that would make them a strong case for one of the better 2 loss teams for an at large bid
There are 10 BCS bowl slots. 6 go to AQ champs. 1 will go to Boise. That means 3 for AQ conference at large teams. No conference gets more than 2 BCS slots. So, SEC gets 1 at-large slot, Big-12 gets one, and there is one left for a team from the Pac-12 or Big 10 (because there's no way the ACC or Big East send two teams). Most likely, it would come down to either us or Nebraska. I say we'd have a fighting chance, even with 2 losses.
Not exactly sure the harm in asking and discussing hypothetical situations regarding how the season could unfold and impact potential bowl matchups. Isn't that entire point of "bowl projections" that most of like like to read? If you don't like it, don't join in. What's the point in saying fans are freaking out and shouldn't discuss the possibilities of unfavorable matchups based on previous play and history? Sheesh, posting nazi!
ah see but if we do join in we get told we are basically stupid for feeling different. And a whole bunch of !!! and a few All Caps thrown in. I seem to remember how letting that fly went down in the Blazers forum
Um, so, someone made you feel stupid and threw in a few caps (which clearly irked you) so that makes it ok to tell people not to discuss hypothetical bowl matchups on the board AND (!) it's ok to claim someone is "freaking" out. Got it... Cool story. Cool board, dude!
Can call me what you want. Doesnt bother me a bit. But yes it does irk me when its done to other posters.
but to keep it on topic to this thread. Its amusing how we've already lost to like 4 teams we havent played this season
I'll need to keep reminding myself I'm not one of the cool kids that gets to joke around, and apparently I'm held to higher standard than anyone else. Admit it...you're a MOD who is discouraging discussion on something that is a big part of sports - evaluating matchups. You mock people for not only using the occasional cap, but mock them for viewing some teams as unbeatable (re: gods comment). Besides that, the only thing that myself and another poster said was that Oregon would "struggle...like everyone" when discussing Wis size. Anyhoo, your board. Your rules. Stellar job.
