    It makes sense why they did not want to wait until later to take him.

    As for why they decided to take him with DC on the roster, that's a BPA vs drafting for need discussion.

    Adding plausibility to this: the Nets used all their picks (perhaps it was too late to trade one when Yang went) and took "The Jewish Hansen Yang" in a surprise pick with Danny Wolf

    Didn’t have to because of draft position and great scouting. OTOH, are you of the opinion that a guy at 11 like Coward is certain to be more than a mid-level player, or that the Blazers can’t find similar talent in the FA market?
