That's all "best player available" means for me. Completely ignore the team that you have or its needs.

Just look at the draft and take the guy you feel best about. If you can trade away the pick that you have and get a future pick as well that's awesome.

To me it's just a crap shoot this late that it doesn't really matter who you pick. If you get lucky you get lucky. You're probably not going to get lucky.

Honestly, it's a crap shoot when you pick higher too. It's just a crap shoot that is more in your favor.

Here is a video from a Miami Heat fan that was hoping the Heat could pick him up. Props to him for going out on a limb.

slow-footed in the Clingan/Edey/Nurkic/Lopez/Zubac mold. He sure doesn't look like he's mobile like the Wemby/Holmgren/Adebayo/Turner/Gafford crowd. That doesn't mean he can't be effective, in his role. Zubac is practically an all-star now

why do you want to take all the fun out of over-reaction?

Im sure whatever phrase I'd use you'd find a reason to complain. So I'll just stick to what I said.

he is neither a good fit nor was he bpa at 11/16. this is a drastic overreach by a gm who has job security without oversight.

I think he has no job security, him getting paid is secured but we know new ownership is coming soon. As far as no oversight, maybe Bert decided to check out when they started the auction but I don't know that, the last I heard Bert had to approve everything and even when nothing was going on Joe and Chauncey had to have multiple meetings every month with the guy.

    Here's one thing to ponder/consider.

With the trade they made, they get 2 2nd rounders and a 1st round pick.

Could that have been the best offer they received for the 11th pick? As in, maybe the offers they received didn't include a future 1st in addition to draft assets in the future AND a pick this year?

I mean, if you told me the options were drafting Kaspar at 11 (which clearly would've been a reach since he dropped to 20th), and that's it VS taking a flier on MmmBop AND get a future 1st plus 2 future 2nd round picks, I'd probably lean towards the 2nd package.

Maybe that was the best offer they got. And maybe that future 1st (in 28) is a safety net in case they have to, at that point, give Chicago the 1st round pick and it means they can't swap with the Bucks.

Maybe no other team was offering what they got, and if that's the case it's probably a smart trade. Takes a shot at a guy who could be a decent player + save them potentially from losing a draft pick in 28 AND accumulate more 2nd round picks to sacrifice to the basketball gods when they finally build a new stadium.

Is the fan base not full of high highs and low lows?

Grow some thicker skin. There are significantly more important things in life to worry about than some innocuous comment made on a message board.

You could have easily stated that instead of calling everyone bipolar knowing full well there are people open about their journey with that here.

Its not thicker skin needed bud, it's sticking up for others.

damn for a 7 footer he looks way more fluid than I initially thought. Spin moves, dunks from distance, nice baby hook form distance. This kid definitely has some potential. I’m excited to see him in summer league.

Like I said in my initial post today, I have no idea how this plays out. I do think that Schmitz and the Blazers' other scouting crew are good, so I'm hoping for the best. I don't think that your statement about Cronin bears too much scrutiny. With new ownership coming this summer, his job is certain to be in play. If Yang is a bust, I expect Cronin will be out of a job pretty quickly.

I was shocked that they got a FRP to move back from 11-16.
Now, if it was moving back from 5-11, then sure, but 11-16? That seems like a lot....Unless I was right about Coward.

And for those who suggest they get another 1st for moving back from 16, who would do it that late in the draft. Blazer fans would go ape shit if we gave up a future FRP pick for #16. (plus this year's pick in the 20s)

Watching film of one right next to the other - I think Yang is the much better prospect.

Nukic and Yang were both #16 picks!

The 2024 draft last year was so weak that #7 was probably about the value of pick #37?

They didn't have to. No one was on to Jokic. No one knew who he was. Minnesota and at least one other team, I think I heard Brooklyn were interested in drafting Yang first round #17 and #19.

Windy was getting texts from Malika as the hosts had the results 30 seconds before the announcement so they can get ready.
