RSCI top five guy that had multiple good non-conference games? I followed that draft pretty damn close and I never saw him later than a lotto guy from any reputable source.

Not worth arguing about though lol

i'd rather take my chances on landing Looney, Bamba, or Jalen Smith in FA with the MLE or part of it, than use #7 on Duren.

Griffin's knee injuries and inability to do much outside of catching and shooting is not worth #7 for me.

As of now, I think Jaden Ivey will fall to #7 and we will trade him.

Hopefully for at least 2 FRPs.

Agree on Griffin. To me though, Duren is going to become Bam in a couple of years

    how about this scenario:

a team trades their pick plus assets (ie future first) to move up to 7. We move down. Then we trade that lower pick for Grant. We end up with Grant and whatever assets from the other trade.

Yup, seems obvious. would be odd if we did NOT explore those options. I said it on page one of this thread.

Since forever, seemingly every offseason & trade deadline the national media people claim that Portland is jettisoning their assets for pennies on the dollar. It barely gets a rise out of me anymore.

Here's the issue I have with this argument (not yours, the tweet).

#7 is overpaying for Grant. Trading #7 for 2 picks and trading the better of those picks doesn't make much sense imho.

The only thing that trading #7 for Grant will do is cement their place in mediocrity. Not saying #7 is a guaranteed star player, but he's an unknown. Grant is known.

The team needs assets, and over-paying for Grant isn't the way to get it.

Some other notes in the Athletic piece referenced above:

    • Most people who spoke with The Athletic expect a lot of trade and player movement leading up to the draft and beyond. Even in the lottery, we could see some action. Sacramento has a clear win-now expectation, several front office members on the last year of their contracts and the fourth pick in the draft burning a hole in its pocket. One suspects that pick might be in play in return for some wing help.
    • Other teams with multiple picks are expected to try to move up in the draft, which could make trading down profitable for those picking in the late lottery and teens. Oklahoma City, for instance, has picks at No. 12 and No. 30 and a surfeit of future picks to sweeten a deal; using those to move up and nab a targeted player seems like a no-brainer. Other multi-first-rounder teams to watch include San Antonio (Nos. 9, 20 and 25), Charlotte (Nos. 13 and 15) and Memphis (Nos. 22 and 29). San Antonio, in particular, had a sea of staff at the combine intently watching the proceedings.
    Re: Sharpe's proday:
    • A lot of what came through from sources was that absolutely nothing was done at game speed, with most of the drills in terms of his handle being executed more slowly than what he’ll face on an NBA court. He didn’t do anything complex. For a player who few have actually seen at high-level game speed much, the workout didn’t provide any insight into the actual questions to which decision-makers would like some semblance of an answer before potentially selecting him on draft night. It was a prime example of why these pro days can be so frustrating.
    • Mark Williams (Duke) came in at 7-foot-2 in shoes with a 7-foot-7 wingspan and a 9-foot-9 standing reach. That standing reach is actually the second-biggest of all time behind Celtics legend Tacko Fall. Williams has a very good chance to hear his name called in the lottery on draft night by the end of the process.
    • Likely lottery pick Dyson Daniels (G League Ignite) backed up his rumored growth in terms of height, measuring 6-foot-7 1/2 in shoes as a guy who plays about half of his time as a lead guard. He also has a 6-foot-10 1/2 wingspan and an 8-foot-10 standing reach that is among the elite for combo guards in the last decade. NBA teams had been hearing for weeks that Daniels had grown over the last year, so getting this down on paper for him was enormous. He’s likely to hear his name called in the top 10.
    • Wisconsin guard Johnny Davis did himself some good by coming in at more than 6-foot-4 without shoes, when some teams had some very real concerns that he’d be about that height with shoes. At 6-foot-5 3/4 in shoes with an 8-foot-7 1/2 standing reach, Davis looks well-suited to playing either wing position now as opposed to coming in with measurements that would leave him position-locked as a two.
    • Tari Eason (LSU) measured as well as expected at 6-foot-8 in shoes with a 7-foot-2 wingspan. The thing that popped off the page though was his 11-inch hand-width. That’s essentially a Kawhi Leonard-like mark, as the former San Diego State forward had 11 1/4-inch hands when he was at the combine back in 2011. Eason had the biggest hands at this combine. It’s hard to come up with a more ideal frame for a combo forward than Eason’s.

And he would be wrong if that “right” player is Grant for 7

If we do want to make a move, I hope it's at least ON draft day instead of a week before it. Let's be a bit more clear on what prospects will/won't be available before moving #7.

Cronin seems to be the king of premature trades.

If there's any way we can come away with both Eason and Williams on draft day, I would be a very happy fan. I'm feeling really good about both those guys (despite the death of the traditional center).

    i want Grant + Eason.

    7 for 13 + 15.

Grab Eason with 13. Trade 15 + TPE for Grant.

    Call it.

Because us getting Grant is a fait accompli, or because you actually want him?

I would then send Dame a picture of his tweet praising other teams for their drafting and would say “when we get a pick like this, we need to keep it and not trade it for some overrated player”

I saw a Sacramento fan on Twitter suggest:

    4 + Richaun Holmes

    for

    7 + Josh Hart

I would think if Detroit would take #15 for Grant, they would also take Milwaukees 1st and #36
They are already young, do they really need/want another 1st this year?

Eason could be just as good as any player we take at 7, but If we don't have to roll the dice on trading down, then I prefer not to. Trade for Grant and keep 7.
