Murray is said to be a guy that doesn't need plays run for him to score. He's an opportunistic scorer. He knows where to be on the floor. Sounds like a good fit for the Trail Blazers.

they ran almost every play for him, so not sure how you came to this conclusion. he very well could be a guy who makes the most of his touches, but that certainly was not the case at Iowa.

    Agreed.
It doesn't have to be either/or.... Why not do both?
Outside of Murray (who I'd take @ #7) I don't see a large talent gap between #7 and #12. Trade down a few spots, get an asset, & use that new asset to acquire a vet.

That’s what I was about to say too. They had him work in the post or coming off screens to get an open 3. They definitely ran plays for him. The reality is he will need to have plays for him since he can’t create his own shot and not necessarily tall or strong enough to get offensive rebounds. Which isn’t a bad thing if he excels at other aspects of the game. Think of a taller Klay Thompson basically

I would prefer to have someone who needs plays run for him at this point. I would rather not have guys who need the ball in their hands to create their own shot.

Would love Keegan but can't see the Pacers passing on him.

    They might take Mathurin instead.

Edit: or that would mean Mathurin would be available at 7.

    Banchero
    Holmgren
    Smith jr.
    Ivey
    Sharpe

    Mathurin
    Murray

Rumors on Pacers subbredit that Pritchard might have promised a "Pac 12 player" (Mathurin). Take it as you would any rumor.

And there's this: look at him smirk a bit when asked about his meeting with Carlisle and KP

around the 5:30 mark. Not much of a poker face.

I've been saying this for a while now but this draft is madness as far as the order goes. Draft boards have these guys all over the place so the best move seems to be to trade back if the Hornets are willing, to 13 and 15 then see who drops to us. People who think that the draft is the best and possible only way to get a second allstar next to Dame should see the parity in this draft and hope that we trade back and possibly get two allstars.

The draft seems deep, so I think the draft order could be flipped upside down fairly easily if someone falls in love with a guy like Sochan.

My comps for Daniels are MCW, Dante Exum, or even Ntilikina. All long non-shooting PGs who were taken in the lottery but never blossomed.

I'm not buying the hype. Defensive instincts look terrific but leaves a lot to be desired in other areas. Even while his passing is good, he makes basic reads and isn't going to be near the kind of playmaker he's hyped up to be right now with his shaky handle and poor first step. I can't see him getting past his initial defender to be able to create much in the NBA.

Kinda hoping Indy or Detroit buy the hype and allow someone with a more proven track record to fall to us.

cool analysis, look forward to the one in two weeks where you call him the best player in the draft.

You have incredibly insightful and informative posts.
Please do not stop. The thread you created about prospects is a true treasure of information.
Some people just like to hate. Please just continue to do what you do. After reading up, i have found your posts to be elite in comparison to many. I knew so little about the players outside of the top three. You have educated me in a massive way. I am forever thankful for your informative posts.

"... unlike literally everyone else here ..."
    Really?
I like the difference of opinion of yours regarding Daniels. You're correct, IMHO, in noting the hype that flared up for him. What I like about him (from watching a bit of video) is his size, quickness of foot (not speed or even first step), noted defense, and court awareness. I'm a fan of the point-forward who with time gets enough core strength to defend any of 1 through 3 and who makes the options open up even with shorter guards on a roster. He's young, has played against better than college competition and has markedly improved ... though the sample size/duration is small. I'm more of a Keegan Murray fan ... and Nikola Jovic. I can be convinced other options at the Blazers pick would be better ... perhaps.

As to the hype machine, I expect that will happen with several other players. It's practically a competition at this time of year that is a good time for all. Even better is how whoever is drafted for the Blazers will be portrayed as a really good pick ... utterly ignoring the guys I want who the Blazers pass on but are inevitably drafted by the Spurs, OKC, or the Raptors.

an exaggeration for sure. I got triggered because that guy talks down to everyone he disagrees with and has for yrs.

I think the social media posts about Dyson fron Schmitz and DX are at the forefront of the hype machine. He made a bunch of shots in a row and measured out extremely well at all the anthro stuff at the combine. But in the videos ive seen of him, the dude really struggles to get past his man and rarely reads the backline defenses to be a better playmaker. And his shot release seems slow. The improvement in his shot came in three games to end his short season so as you say... Small sample size. I like the deflections and his smarts on defense so he fits the template of what people think we need, but i dont think he's it.

And are you sure the GLeague is better thanl some D1 competition on a nightly basis?

Agree with a lot of this.

Still like Daniels, but moreso when he was a late lotto / mid first guy.
