Mariners are supposedly talking to the Twins about Francisco Liriano. Even though Liriano will never bee the same as he was before Tommy John surgery, he's a good risk to take if he can get healthy. Imagine if he could return to somewhat of what he use to be, he would be a sick #3.

Also had no idea that there was an active M's forum. Makes sense if I think about it for a sec.

Anyone think 4/45M to Beltre is too much? Or too little for Boras to grab? You get an infield of Lopez (1B), Figgins (2B), Wilson (SS) and Beltre and that's doing some damage. Or use Lopez in a trade and re-sign Branyan or a decent-hitting lefty 1B/OF.

Is Ackley even a shot to make the team out of Spring Training?

I like the Liriano report. Liriano and maybe Bedard at 3/4 in September for the playoff run. :)

Essentially we're swapping Hall for Kotchman, opening up our former need of a 1B to a LF many believe. Saunders might get legit PT now.

Another minor move that probably won't equate to much.

While in general I'm a big proponent of the Pitching-and-defense strategy, anyone else worried about a light-hitting (though good defensively) first baseman? This isn't John Olerud we're talking about...it's a guy hitting around .270 with less than 10 homers. :dunno: But he is cheap and a lefty, so maybe our short porch in right will suck another 10 homers or so out of his bat.

On the draft front, just noticed this little blurb...

for getting Figgins we gave up our 1st rounder (18th) to the Angels. For Beltre leaving as a Type B we get a 1st/2nd sandwich pick (41st). So we're drafting 41, 64, in the first 2 rounds

The Angels are drafting 18, 29, 30, 36, 39, 77. In other words, they have 5 picks (including ours at 18) before we choose once. Lets them take some big chances.

Didn't realize that, but I'm sure happy with Figgins unless he completely sucks. Most baseball picks seem to end up in busts since there are so many players out there, so it's all good IMO after seeing last year's draft picks. Ackley was the only player in the first 2 rounds that made any sense talent wise.

I read today that Bill Hall was actually working hard this winter on a strict diet w/ 2 a days. I hope this doesn't comeback to haunt us swapping Hall if he can return to his form that had big power.

I meant out of the guys that we drafted. All of them were weird picks that people saw as low potential to average players at best.

I don't see much else happening this offseason, maybe a 3rd starter the max we do. There is only like 1 roster spot available from what I understand.

5yr/$80M are the reports. If you ask me, that's a flippin' steal. If they said 5/100, I would've been excited.

    I like it.

I'm so happy they resigned him. He's one of my all time favorite players and I never wanted to see Boston or Yankees get a chance at him in free agency..2 bad lee wants a much bigger deal than that

Lee wants Sabathia money, or twice as much we just gave King Felix. Crazy how cheap we got King Felix compared to the contracts that guys have gotten lately.
