i believe that it is because the M's still have arbitration control over him for a few years. best for felix to lock up that money when an injury would have wiped it all away.

I wouldn't mind Washburn for cheap, but only cheap.

I wouldn't mind Melvin Mora, he'd be a nice right handed bat to throw into the lineup occasionally.

Am I the only one that is concerned of having Rob Johnson as our starting Catcher considering how many surgery's he has had this offseason. I hope Adam Moore is ready.

GRIFFEY LOST 7 LBS! Bout damn time. Another 15 wouldn't hurt haha.

And I love the news on Cordero's health losing 20 lbs. His weight was a big concern for me.

Larry Stone of the Seattle Times reports that the Mariners have signed OF Eric Byrnes to a one-year contract.

Jack Z was in the market for a right-handed bat and part-time left fielder so Byrnes should do the trick. The oft-injured 33-year-old was cut loose by the Diamondbacks earlier this month and will join the Mariners at the major league minimum. It's worth a shot if Byrnes can add some speed and defense off the bench.

Byrnes is a shell of his former self, but still worth the shot if he can miraculously pull it back together. I loved watching him in his prime, so it's cool to see the name. Mariners are also courting Rocco Baldelli from what I hear, I wouldn't mind taking a shot on him either.

I'm not as up on Hudson as many. I had totally dropped Feierabend off my radar--if he comes back strong he'd be in the 5th-starter mix, no? Garko? Hmmm.

EDIT: I think Baldelli's worth a flier, as well. For 3 games a week.

If its the rising star Baldelli, I'd take him. But he's been a shell as of late.

I've been a fan of bringing back Bedard all this offseason due to the fact we gave up so much for the guy. When healthy, Bedard is borderline Ace material...too bad he's barely healthy these days.

I can't wait until the season gets going. If Bedard can return to form, that would be an amazing rotation but we'd have 3 straight lefties on the mound possibly after King Felix.
