<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">President of Basketball Operations Ernie Grunfeld announced today that the Washington Wizards have signed free agent guard Chris Whitney. Per team policy terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Whitney returns to Washington where he established himself as a fan favorite during his first eight seasons as a Wizard. Entering his 11th NBA season, Whitney is the franchise leader in three-point field goals made (481) and free throw percentage (.878) for players with at least 700 attempts.

In 563 regular season games, Whitney has career averages of 6.6 points and 2.8 assists per game. He enjoyed his best season in 2001-2002, when he started 81 games for Washington and averaged a career-high 10.2 points per game while ranking fourth in the NBA in assists to turnover ratio. Whitney has played in all 82 regular-season games in four of his eight seasons in Washington.</div>

Wizards need a vet like Whitney...After being traded to Denver...then playing for the Magic for the last 22 games of the season and in the playoffs he is back in Washington.
