So pretty much LA would be stuck with AD-Bron and not much else without an immediate avenue to improve.

I'd be somewhat OK with it

Awesome, the New Orleans Lakers '18. I cant imagine I would be happy with that as a Pels fan. There are no players in that deal that have real star potential.

Would not be so sure about that. Then you have players taking vets minimum to go play there.

Every time I read these tweets of people saying this is the Lakers offer, I think there are probably 8-9 teams (including the Blazers)who could do better... Just because AD won't commit to signing long term, I don't know why teams are so scared to go after him try to win with him and see if he'd resign. It's not like many of those teams are winning a championship without him...

Plus, a bunch of cap room this offseason to add a few players BEFORE finding aging vets to sign for small salaries.....

So, for the rest of this season..... it'd be LBJ and AD..... Melo would sign. And then a bunch of G Leaguers? Would be odd to watch.

Quality over quantity, FAMS. None of those Lakers players are very enticing to me. If I were a fan of the Pels, I'd quickly realize that ownership and management are not going to do what needs to be done to build a winner. You need some star power, and settling for the Lakers' offer is not bringing any star power back in return. It's settling.

Magic Johnson: "Hey Dell, you can literally take every other player on the Lakers except Lebron for Anthony Davis, don't worry the NBA will approve it."

So Anthony Davis wanting out after Cousins left for GS means the management is not doing what it needs to do. Davis is going to leave. The Management is shopping him to get the most they can. I would say that is the best they can do.

I wouldn't get hasty and deal immediately. I suspect offers will get better after the season, even if teams are scared by only having him for one year. But, as I said, quality over quantity. I feel like the Blazers, and other teams, could offer more. I'd rather build with a guy like CJ and another asset(s) and then build my team with a handful of mediocre players than to simply trade my star player for that handful of mediocre players.

I thought of this. If I'm the NYK, and I miss out on AD to LAL (which means NYK likely won't ever get him), I'd buyout Wed and Jordan after 3/1 so they are ineligible to play in the playoffs just to fuck with LAL.

Well damn if THAT ain't a lose/lose trade! We get the Kobe/Howard Lakers Redux.

That ownership group is already looked at poorly. Screw over two vets like that, and good luck with that cap space plan this offseason

I mean, I don't disagree with what you previously said. If you value the Lakers' players or think they have a high-ceiling, by all means, go for it. Some still believe that Ball will be a Kidd-like player, which I can understand (but totally disagree with). If you believe that, and think you can keep him, I'd understand accepting that deal. Just for myself, I think Ball is overrated (and folks are starting to believe his ceiling is not as high as they once thought). I think the other young players offered are mediocre and have limited ceilings and would not be worth nearly as much elsewhere. I want as talented a player as I think I can get, and then fill in around him.

Maybe I'm biased, but I'd think CJ would be a solid pickup. I am in no way anxious to deal him, but I would in the right deal. And assuming he is eventually moved, I would like to see what he does when he is "The Man" on his team.

Ya there's no reason for NY to do that-- just incredibly spiteful and petty. Do the due diligence to see if they can bring in any assets in a trade now. If not, let them go on Friday after the deadline.

Lakers would still have Hart, Zubac, McGee, Mo Wagner, KCP, Mykhailiuk, Tyson Chandler, and Bonga with Solomon Hill, Anthony Davis, and LeBron. They'd for sure add Melo and would probably get two buyout guys. They could still make other trades too.

He just named all those other three teams so that it doesn’t look like he only wants Lakers. He knows Clippers and Bucks have no way to trade for him.
