I hate to see Nic go, but I really like Vonleh's potential and I think this team needed to make a move like this to avoid getting stuck in neutral. You lose Nic who is a good player for a guy with star upside and gain $3 million in cap space; that's a deal you make.

I was a Nic fan, but for what we gave up and what we received in return, whether this move was intended to keep both players, or use either as a trade chip, I don't see how we didn't get better. Plus, the extra cap space, though it doesn't sound like much, could be quite valuable.

Here's the other issue that really isn't being talked about:

I think he leaves regardless when he becomes a FA next summer. I don't think he really wanted to be here before, and I'm pretty sure he signs somewhere else next summer. I don't think Charlotte has a chance in hell of retaining him.

Yeah, I'm thinking they gave up on Vonleh for a one year rental of Batum, that doesn't seem like a very good trade to me for them. How is Cho still the gm there?

    They probably like Zeller more.

Hornets fans are completely flabbergasted right now though. That's always a good sign in my book.

    That too.

Personally, I think it could signal the end to RoLo here. I think management is thinking bigger at center. RoLo was most effective on offense in his interactions with Batum. RoLo's effectiveness in our offense LIKELY just took a serious hit.

They could plan on using the great white hope as a stretch 5?

FWIW they have been trying to trade Zeller for a wing. Maybe they intend to move Nic.

Hallelujah. Vonieh is a great cheap young prospect who we can have for three more years. Henderson will play with heart and will be a breath of fresh air.

    Goodbye nic.

The biggest question now after seeing the Henderson pass to the 3rd row will be, who passes the ball in from the sidelines now?

While I am coming around on this trade I do think this is spot on:

Maybe, but I still suspect the team will chase another C before starting Nards there yet.

Funny. I'm pretty sure most of us would've traded Batum for last year's #9 and Henderson. I would have, and anyone that follows knows I've been a big Batum supporter. I love Batum, great glue guy, but his inconsistency hurts.

There was a reason why our team was unstoppable when Batum was on. If we have a true legit third option, we can be unstoppable again with more consistency.
