There are some subtle shots at Dame (and specifically at his camp), but I'm not sure what Olshey's aim is here? Is this targeted towards GM candidates? Basically telling them to beware of Dame's camp? Dame wants 100 million and you shouldn't give it to him because he'll become an albatross? That's the part I don't understand. If this is targeted towards Blazers fans I think most would just side with Dame. For general NBA followers I don't know what they're getting out of this. I think most general NBA fans would be worried about paying Dame that much when he's 36 though. Aside from all the spin (the "maniacal" sentence about Paul Allen was literally written by Olshey) though, there is just some interesting information in here.
If nothing less it ensures he won't get traded...teams won't want to take on that salary chunk at this point in his career. It keeps him a Blazer
I get it with our disney+ account, so going forward, I'm always happy to share so nobody else has to pay. Sorry I missed this one!
people said the same thing about john wall, but wizards got rid of his contract and then they got rid of wesbrooks contract too
Oddly, I think the fact he played through injury the first few months this season and adjusted his game makes the idea of extending him into his mid 30s makes sense. He's shown the ability to adjust his game by adding elements in prior seasons, now he has shown that he can still be effective as the tread starts to wear thin.
Interestingly, regarding ESPN+, if you're in Australia, it's free (no idea why). So if you have a VPN and can set it to Australia, you can do that to get free access when you want it.
Paying Lillard that much money would be madness for a team as mediocre as this one. We should trade him today, tomorrow, or soon. Tear the bandaid off and get out of the middle-of-the-road nonsense that we've been on for years and years. Get players that are worth more than their contracts, rather than CJ and Dame (at $50m/year in his mid-30s). Let's make this team better, rather than trying to apply bandaids to a corpse.
How is this news? Which supermax player doesn't want the max extension? It's just to make Lillard look bad.
