    Lowe:

"I think Olshey getting fired actually helps Dame's willingness to stay."

    Basically summarizing my thoughts.

Yup. Any chance of it includes us forking over Nas and tons of draft capital most likely.

his fake trades were ridiculous. he keeps trying to trade nance instead of roco (although he did destroy Roco quite a bit), and i turned it off when he started talking about potential dame trades. i feel like Zach is a bit disengaged with Portland at the moment.

His reasoning is that RoCo doesn't have value. Unfortunately I agree with him.

    He suggested these though:

    Nurk for Oubre/Plumlee
Nurk for Oubre/Washington (We should take this if it's offered)

Charlotte does seem like a natural fit for a center though.

Nurk/RoCo for Gordon Hayward was also mentioned.

Honestly, reading this over, I would not be surprised if Olshey was trying to sell rebuild to the ownership. He gets a shitload of picks for Lillard and he keeps his job and gets the opportunity to rebuild the team again, in his vision. Looks like he lost that battle.

    Who is this fool?

If the GM was anyone other than Morey, I think Simmons would be gone already. I think Morey would rather die on principal than take a less than ideal trade.

maybe....but you may be over-crediting Olshey with rational objective action in the few days after being fired, for cause, and losing 12 million dollars.

Personally I think he's a vindictive piece of shit and it's likely he was trying to inflict as much damage as he could. So, what better way than potentially poisoning the well for the next GM and making the search harder, all while tarnishing the franchise player and leaving headaches for the owners

I always wished I was working for more money so no. Portland giving it to him is another matter

I'm confused how this tarnishes Lillard reputation besides trying to put some of the blame of the coaching search and non-trades on Dame. What, Dame wants more money? Is that bad?

if it was truly 12 million that they saved in this ordeal, that is a drop in the bucket for jody. i don't think this inevitable PR storm is worth it. They could have very easily and quietly fired him and paid his $ and avoided this nonsense.

Also sidebar, is "sources" a way to circumvent NDAs now?

it makes it look like all of Dame's talk about wanting a contender is Portland is just noise if his real priority is getting that supermax extension

I mean, if you don't think the juxtaposition of how Dame has played this season (following his summer drama) vs his 'focus' on getting that supermax is a bad look....

...I was having a similar thought earlier thinking -- what if all that Dame drama from this summer was initiated by Olshey to try and shift the narrative away from his desire to rebuild around CJ? :dunno:

Soooooo many people talked about this during the summer. Many people here speculated as such.

I dunno if "building around CJ" was the end result. He could have also wanted to get what he could for CJ, but knowing Neil I wouldn't be surprised if it was.

Disappointed in Dame. With all the money he has made, i question whether he wants to win.
What teams have won with a supermax contract on the books?

Bucks with giannis, who JUST signed it so the cap ramifications have yet to set in on them.

Curry, but they won before he signed. Effects also yet to be felt.

Harden is on one and hasn't won anywhere and has demanded trades.

    Westbrick…. Lol.

John Wall hasnt done anything in the playoffs.

Now i get. The point of the supermax is to help small market teams retain thier stars, but what good is that if they cant put a winning team around them?
Id rather see the Players association( listening cj?) advocate for a lower cap on top salaries, forcing teams to funnel the money a bit further down the roster.

im no cba guy but i know its extremely complex, but, im not sure the supermax is working optimally.

he had full autonomy to do as he wished. are you saying the team he built from 2013-21 was not in his vision?

No, I'm saying that NOW, "trade Dame" and build again was the direction he wanted to go. Ownership said no, for whatever reason, whether it was Lillard, or fan pressure that supported Lillard over Olshey. Whatever the reason, it sounds like Neil wanted to trade Dame, and he lost that battle.

So much coping by Lillard fan boys going on here.

This demand is preposterous and it completely debunks the notion that Lillard has ever cared about winning. You know what winning players do? They sacrifice a few million dollars so the GM can actually build a team around them.

They don’t demand being paid MORE THAN ANY PLAYER EVER at the end of their career while expecting praised for being “loyal” and “passionate” about winning.

This article shows he’s not loyal. He straight up tried to get CJ traded while lying to CJ’s face. It also shows he is not passionate, about anything except money.

you chumps wanna shoot the messenger because you can’t come to grips with the fact Lillard is a fraud who took hundreds of millions of dollars from your city, and he’s about to bounce out the door just like Aldridge, leaving you with nothing except some of his shitty rap CDs and ugly ass shoes you paid $200 for.

    COPE!
