Malone to Minnie Would be a Biggie Malone would make the Wolves the favorite in the West and serious challenger for the title. Malone to San Antonio might do the same for them. Malone to Miami would be just more time in the sun for him.
There are a host of contender teams lobbying for Karl Malone, but it seems more and more likely that he will remaing with the Los Angeles Lakers. Shaquille O'Neal has actively recruited the Mailman, but an O'Neal associate said it was the center's belief that Malone eventually would elect to return to the Lakers. That possibility appears even stronger now that Malone's children have been enrolled in schools in suburban Los Angeles. The Heat and Spurs can both offer him the NBA minimum of $1.1 million for the coming season. The Lakers could offer slightly more, while it appears increasingly likely that the Timberwolves are not to a factor. SORRY TO BURST YOURE BUBBLES GUYS!!
One big problem in todays media is over hype every time they here a big name is on the market Dampier was prejected to go to the Knicks, Hawks, Pacers, or possibly stay with the Warriors not once did you hear a serious rumor coming out of Dallas yet they are the ones that got him. A player in todays media mentions a few teams he would like to play for like Kobe did last season and Kidd as well as Payton and Baron Davis have done, and the next day people already have a trade worked out to make it happen just because they eard it on the news. In my opinion a rumor even if reported if not obtained through a primary source or quote saying a trade with this team has worked out and will be made official blah blah blah is just a rumor. Nothing more should be thought of it.
If they did make this move to get Malone, would he be the backup PF or would they move KG to either SF or C? I don't think KG would be very effective at C. They need him at PF but I could see there lineup as: C-Michael Olowakandi PF-Karl Malone SF-Kevin Garnett SG-Latrell Sprewell PG-Sam Cassell Bench: Trenton Hassell Wally and others
No way. Too deep at SF. Where would the minutes come for Wally and Hassell? Nto at SG with Spree at Hoiberg, and not a whole lot with KG at SF. Only do this, if Malone is willing to be a backup for KG at PF. In games, KG can play center for a good amount of minutes. But he can't go full games at the center spot.
