(CNN)A woman shot and killed by Minneapolis police had called 911 to report a possible crime near her home, a source who knew her said. Justine Ruszczyk called 911 on Saturday night because she thought a sexual assault might be taking place in a back alley near her home, the source said. But after Minneapolis police arrived, an officer shot and killed Ruszczyk. Police still haven't explained how, or why. The shooting happened as two Minneapolis police officers responded to a 911 call reporting a possible assault shortly before 11 p.m., Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges said. The officers were wearing body cameras, but they were not turned on during the incident, the mayor said. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety is now handling the case. The DPS' Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said authorities are in the initial stages of investigation and are "working to learn more about the events that transpired." http://www.cnn.com/2017/07/17/us/minneapolis-woman-killed-by-police/index.html
Probably. I would really like to know what led to them firing their weapons. Frankly I think they need to completely alter the kind of person they hire to be police officers.
Just like in the Philando Castile shooting the police will say they smelled marijuana and instantly feared for their lives.
I'd really like to know more about the cameras and how they work. Do they keep track of off and on periods? If they were erased is there a record of that function being used?
Obviously whoever this cop was, was trigger happy. I doubt he got off on it like people believe in these kinda shootings but man that job is tough. Nobody can do that job. There are good cops but there are a ton of shitty ones. I feel for them though as they have families and in a certain situation they can legitimately believe they are in danger and shoot the person. It's a fucked job.
I'm going to guess that this woman called 911, then took a weapon out there to see what the problem was. Cops show up to what they think is a violent crime in progress with no details as to whom the subject is, see a woman with a weapon, and......... It wouldn't be the first time this has happened. At all. Very sad either way.
