I highly highly doubt she was armed. She was some kind of meditation guru. Do those people strike you as the kind to go around armed?
Are you fucking kidding me?!? Three sources with knowledge of the incident said Sunday that two officers in one squad car, responding to the 911 call, pulled into the alley. Damond, in her pajamas, went to the driver’s side door and was talking to the driver. The officer in the passenger seat pulled his gun and shot Damond through the driver’s side door, sources said. No weapon was found at the scene. http://www.startribune.com/woman-ki...ed-shooting-in-south-minneapolis/434782213/#1
You don't think a Meditation Guru is capable of grabbing a kitchen knife and going off to look for a rapist? People have done stranger things. Again: it was just a guess. I trust we'll find out what really happened as time progresses. But it wouldn't be the first time someone called 911 and then charged off with a weapon to inject themselves into a dangerous situation without thinking first. One of the things Self Defense Instructors teach those who carry firearms is to avoid dangerous situations if at all possible, and to not go charging into a situation after calling the police. If you do have to call the police while having someone at gun point, for example, make sure you clearly describe the situation you are in, as well as what you look like, and be sure to tell dispatch that you have the subject at gun point. And make sure you are clearly visible and follow the officer's instructions IMMEDIATELY when they arrive. But that's an extreme circumstance. I trust that we'll find out what happened here in the weeks to come. That really depends on what the circumstances were from the officer's perspective, don't you think?
She did not have a weapon unless she ate it right before dying. He shot from a seated position in a tightly enclosed space across his partner's body. His actions put his partner in extreme danger.
I'm not denying that it was dangerous. I'm simply saying that, depending on the circumstances that HE saw at the time, it may have been perfectly reasonable. I once read a story of a cop who shot a violent dog dead who was attacking his partner during a welfare check. Obviously, shooting towards the direction of his partner would probably be something that he would never have thought of doing in any other circumstance. Do you see my point? Just because it's dangerous, doesn't always make it unnecessary. Ultimately, like I said....we'll know more details as time progresses. Gotta keep an open mind, all of us.
WTF!!!! There better be a damn good reason for him shooting his firearm across his partners body. The only scenario I can imagine it being neccessary is if he believed they were gettibg ambushed, yet she talked to them through the driver side window. If they had a conversation that goes out the door. Or maybe she called the cops on false pretenses and then upon arrival walked up to the car and told them she was going to shoot them. Suicide by cop. But, its crazy that there are so few details about what happened. The only witness is dead no cameras. These cops can spin it anyway they want.
If that were true that would be fucked up. Terrorists getting jobs as police officers so they can kill people without consequence.
I don't want to know why this dude shot the woman. I want to know why they hired this fucker? http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-07-...ta-policeman-had-two-years-experience/8717936
From the ABC article: That sounds reasonable, but I have a feeling that policy is going to change now. The problem is that a battery will not last an entire 8 to 12 hour shift. And going through batteries adds up. There's also the fact that it's not practical to have body cam footage where 3 (or more) out of those 8-12 hours total are either sitting in front of a computer or steering wheel. I highly doubt it would have caught anything relevant, because of the angle the camera would have likely been pointed in while sitting down, verses where he was shooting.
Fucking pigs. Guess we will see how it shakes out. Sounds like he must have had a reason to shoot her, right? Like he wouldn't just shoot her for no reason...right?
Hope he is charged with murder. Pretty quiet on the BLM front - their official pages (insta, twitter, etc.) merely posted a link and "#abolishthepolice". What, no demands of justice for Justine?
This is a FUBAR beyond all what cops could do. It is the worst. It spirals into a travesty. Wasting a fiancée and having missing investigative equipment is as horrible as it gets. It happened in Minnesota???!!!
