Is it time to consider alternative hosts yet? I know Blatter doesn't want to because the World Cup in Africa was his dream for years.

To be selfish for a moment, I think the US could host a World Cup with about six months notice.

They should have never chosen South Africa, they're 20 years away from being able to host something of that magnitude.

Perhaps, but 20 years from now, people would be saying the same thing. Who knows who can host a thing of this magnitude until they actually have to do it?

I really think England should of hosted it this year. We have the stadia, the transportation, and the hospitality for the fans. We also have the money to build new facilities.

I was also thinking that or Portugal, Holland and Poland would also be very very good.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. Right now US is to busy with Baseball season being the Baseball season starts in the Summer time which would be no room for Football to be hosted in a big event and of course Americans would take a bloody Baseball game over the FIFA World Cup so it would be very pointless right now. I think down the road then yes. But South Africa has been getting ready for this since 2007 and I know for a FACT Americans can't make all this happen within 6 months get everything ready.

I was talking about stadiums and transportation. Also, the big European clubs that come here announce their tours about six months in advance and they all sell out. There would be enough between the American soccer fan, the curious sports fans, people with disposable income, immigrants, and people who would travel from other countries that all of the matches would sell out.

That's clubs, you can plan your tour with in weeks or months. The FIFA World Cup is totally different.

I was talking about ticket sales in response to your comment that tickets wouldn't sell in the US.

US could definitely host a World Cup but it would still be really hard to host one with 6 months notice. I really feel as though South Africa was the wrong country to host the next WC.

Indeed, It should have been in Europe again. And I also agree with the US can host it.

Is anyone surprised that an African country can't get something done? What a stupid idea it was even putting the World Cup there. It's going to be the worst in recent memory and leave SA with a bunch of empty hotels and stadia. Just relocate it to the US or anywhere in Europe, those countries can handle it.

I have no idea how they were given the green light for this huge event. Even world powers would struggle to hold the world cup!

It was Sepp's dream. If this strike is settled, there's no way at all that he would ever be backing out.

Yeah, well that's obviously out of the picture. They won't back-out but it's still gonna be a hectic year for them.

Screw that, the Americans can't handle Football and they don't care about it. I rather see FIFA World Cup be hosted in Mexico then in America!!!!!!!!! Mexicans have WAY MORE Pride for Football then freaking Americans they only 1 million Americans understand 25% of Football why the rest 299 Million think Football as NFL now that is saying something.
