i think that we shouldve gotten farther, but we werent good enough to advance beyond the roundof 16. I think that we need:1 GREAT striker (possibly Freddy Adu, who ironically enough, comes from Ghana but has dual citizenship and said that he will play for the USA)2 GREAT defender, that kid Oneywu may possibly become this as he showed some flashes but he must play in Europe, the MLS is so different than international and european soccer3 WALL Goalie (keller was okay, but we need someone, maybe Tim Howard) who can make some more saves

The Koreans have such an obnoxious chant. They shout "Team Korea" the entire match. The same stupid chant I heard while watching Hee Sop Choi jack a 3-run pinch-hit home run during the WBC.

You do know Bruce Arena coached the DC United to the MLS championship.He's the best the US has got.Donovan played well against Italy. The refs called ridiculous fouls on us that made us 2 men down against Italy and the most ridiculous PK foul in soccer history that let Ghana get a shot at goal.Did we suck? Yeah. But the refs were against us and we definately are the farthest thing in the world from a soccer country.
ur both right - the refs were terrible, but we definitely didnt do anything. Guys, Klose of Germany had 4 goals, we had 1!!tahts not good. Ronaldo had 2 goals in 1 half, we had 1 in 3 games.

Everyone in the US has different customs and cultures. Tons of people in America love soccer and are watching the worldcup everyday. And to say that I like soccer therefore Im not American is ridiculous and ignorant.

He called out his players like Larry Brown and didnt prepare enough because no one knew their roles on this team. They just ran up and down the Field with no coordination. Bottom Line is Noone stepped up and no1 could score a goal. America is eventually going to turn into a soccer country.
Unless we win a World Cup which won't happen in the next 40 years, America as a whole will never like soccer.No matter what football, basketball, and baseball will always be more popular. Hell, even hockey is most likely more popular than soccer.And with a performance like this in this World Cup, casual fans have lost more interest in Team USA soccer.

Unless at least hundreds of millions of Europeans/Mexicans/Africans/Brazilians/Asians come over, I don't see it realistically happening.Europeans consider themselves superior to America and already have the top soccer leagues in the world so why would they move over here. Now that the border is tightening (for now and probably forever if things in Congress fall into place like Bush wants), we won't get as many illegal Mexican immigrants that we are deporting anyway. There was never a real high immigration rate of Brazilians (except supermodels!) and I don't see it happening unless something terrible happens in their country and Asians have always been more of a basketball country hence their obsession with MJ, Kobe, and LeBron.BUT, if Team USA wants the country to pay more attention to soccer, they need to beat Brazil in the World Cup on American soil kinda like the "Miracle" hockey team that beat the Soviet Union at Lake Placid.
