You're acting as if America is some kind of utopia or something; America is a great country to live in, but you're saying this as if America is the only place where you can be "free," (im going to get back to this later) or get a good education, or have a job - that's false, you can do those same things and more in other countries as well . Just because America has the strongest Military force, does not mean life is great in America - I'm sure if you asked the majority of people living in the US would tell you that they are always exhausted, and working and they want to spend less time working, and more time with their family. My friends dad is a french guy who lives in France, but came down for a week to visit; we had a deep conversation about this, and how Americans do not live - they go through the motions without enjoying life. He made fun of me for asking what time it is; he did this because he thinks Americans are so caught up with appointments, work, and money;they never just sit and have a good deep conversation and enjoy the moments. Now, I'm not complaining, but it's simply a fact - there are plenty of places that are better to live in than America...it's really not as great as its hyped up to be. About the whole freedom thing - Americans are not totally free like you said - they are free to do the basic things in life; that's obvious, but that doesn't make America anything special - you can be free in a lot of other countries as well. Americans are getting their rights taken away by the government through acts like the Patriot act - where basically the government is free to do anything it wants - they can go through your credit cards, your telephone conversations, even your library account lol - that's not how it used to be - just by enacting the patriot act, American citizens' rights are being taken away. - thats not right. You must be quoting the wrong post, because I'm pretty sure I didn't say anything about freedom. Regardless, nothing the government has done to me that warrants leaving the country. I'm not accusing anyone of anything, but personally I have nothing to hide. They can look through my phone records and library checkouts all they want. All they'll see is a bunch of calls to a girl and well, basically nothing else since I only checked out Origin of Species one time and didn't even read it.I don't think America is a Utopia. I don't think there really is one in this world. I just think it's downright silly to come here and then whine about how terrible it is and how lazy the people are if you are lazy yourself. Not only that, but you kinda contradicted yourself by saying that most Americans are exhausted and working too hard but are also lazy. That doesn't make sense. This is a capitalist society. If people want to work 50+ hours a week, we can't stop them. That's their decision. Okay, yeah, there's some people who have to work a ton of hours for their family. Like I said, I don't think this is a Utopia. I don't think all those people have lived great lives though, either. Sadly, I'd have to say some people earned their way into poverty. And there's poverty (and ridiculously higher unemployment) in other countries. The bottom line is, I have friends that work all the time in school. They put in endless hours to make great grades so that they can get 6 figure jobs or go to graduate school. That's not the life for me. I'd rather just get a job I enjoy and make 5 figures. Most people in America have the opportunity to be happy, which may not be the case in a lot of other countries. If you don't want to be here, leave? I don't care. I am happy, so I'm staying here.As for most Americans being OMG LAZY OMG, most foreign people I've seen come here to the public schools haven't done that great. And yes, I had four foreign exchange students who went to high school here, so I did get to see how they lived and acted. The others that I have seen were even lazier. Most of them just smoked all day and told stories about whatever the hell people wanted to hear about. In a nutshell, they were complete jackasses. My foreign exchange students were better, but not mind-blowing. I don't think they worked any more or any less than a normal American would. Is that surprising? The top 2 in my class out of high school were white Americans (pretty sure there wasn't an immigrant in the top 10, although there were Asian-Americans, if that matters). Does that surprise you? Comparing foreign schools to American high schools is ridiculous. It's like comparing apples and oranges. "THIS ORANGE ISN'T RED ENOUGH YET!" Seriously though, there's a reason there's so many foreign-born students at my university, and I don't think it's because foreign schools are better.The reason I'm sick of hearing about Americans being lazy is because I'm not lazy. I've worked through 4 years of high school and 2 years of college, and it's not like I'm planning on sleeping through a year of my life in the future, y'know. This crap just gets old. You talk about hype, why don't you base your opinions on actual people instead of hype? I'm not lazy, and I don't think 5'10", 130 lbs. is fat. Do you? Get over yourself. It is the 21st century. In my generation, I do not believe religon will be a big issue. I believe the two generations before mine, screwed the world over. My generation, will be unintelligent. So, we won't have religous problems, but the world will still be screwed over. Hopefully, the generation after will be better.Now, for Israel.Israel is a country, as a whole, I dislike. I do not hate Jews, I live in a Jewish community. But I do, however, dislike the Israeli military and government. They have been attacking civilians. Hopefully, Hezbollah can stop Israel. Their new rocket missiles are very powerful.
