If we keep 6 I am happy with either Lillard or Drummond. Drummond is second youngest in draft, and uconn was super unstable
Over 550 views to this thread and only 7 people posted who they would take with the 6th pick? (assuming the consenus top 5 are all gone? The rest of you don't know or you just don't want to go on record in case the thread gets bumped a year from now?
Drummond terrifies me. He may have a bit more physical talent than Henson or P3....but those guys are much better basketball players, and nobody is talking about them at #6. I would opt for Lillard. He might be a stud, and he is far less likely to be a total waste of a uniform. I know alll the red flags about Lillard - but IMHO, none of them equal the questions about Drummond's head and heart.
To be fair, this thread doesn't really make much sense, as I posted my worst case scenario for #6, which is a package of #6, #11, and LMA for Pau Gasol. As for the worst pick at #6 if the Blazers keep it, I'll go with ... hmmm ... Rod Singleton/PG/Montana State University
I think the title and the way you worded your post were kind of confusing.. The question is just "who would I take with the #6 pick pick if Davis, Robinson, MKG, Beal and Barnes are gone, right? Lillard.
Sounds like you figured it out just fine. Rod Singleton is a super choice. Although I think he would have been better off entering the draft after the 2011 season. His PER dropped a little this year.
You know what excites me most about Drummond? He's a 7-footer with no injury problems. Bring him on, I say. Swing for the fences.
taking another bust center "project" would be considered my worst case. best case, is we get a freaking real point guard, and dispose of Crawford, Felton, Thabeet, and Flynn
Just an observation, but the players you are anxious to get rid of consisted of 2 PG's drafted in the lottery, who were both considered "real PG's"
I was going to comment on that. PGs and Centers . . . draft has not been good to these positions . . . especially when it comes to Blazer drafts. (Oden, Telfair, Bayless, Smith . . . sure I'm missing others)
There were such high hopes for Bayless. This board (or the other at the time) was buzzing about Bayless. There wa a big loud buzz for Bayless for a couple years and he showed some potential. But as a PG, with all his hype coming to camp, he was a bust in my mind.
His numbers now are what I dream of from a PG for the right offense. Bayless has never had the ever elusive "great court vision" but what he does have, that my friend, Randy Bodek likes, is the willingness to pass. He was caught as a young player trying to develop his game under Nate and Brandon's ISO piece of shit offense. Bayless was basically a year older than a college senior last year and put up good numbers. Is his game pure? No, but neither is the game of Westbrook. Comparing them from this past year, Bayless doesn't look that bad. People will scream and yell about smaple size and minutes played, but just looking at per 36 numbers http://bkref.com/pi/shareit/A4Wa5
Worst case for me would be for the top five to get drafted as slotted and no one offers anything attractive for the 6. I would then select Lilliard. Drummond may turn out better and not completely sold on DL, but I would rather keep Hickson than have to wait on a very green AD to develop. Hoping one of the top five fall, then we somehow get Kendall Marshall and Sullinger though.
Worst case is that it goes Davis/MKG/Beal/Robinson/Lillard, and we're stuck with Barnes or Drummond and no trade offers. I don't think either of those happen.
