Bottom line is Blazers are 18-14 in their last 32 games and 67-47 in their last 114 games. 85-57 since Nurk joined the team. How’s that for context?

It's not championship or bust for me, but I "assume" they'll make the playoffs, but really all I want to see is "some" playoff success. Without that the regular season success feels kind of empty.

I would submit that full context involves including what teams are playing for....the Playoffs.

0-4 in their last 4, 0-8 in their last 8, 1-12 in their last thirteen, 5-14 in their last 19......

congratulations...you've cherry picked your context back to a point that Portland has a 59% winning rate which translates exactly to a 49 win season...which they had last season before folding like a cheap chair in the playoffs

you've also conveniently forgot to add that 0-8 playoff record "since Nurk Joined the team", and that has at least as much context as all the rest, if not more. Portland doesn't end seasons with a bang, it ends them with a whimper. Oh, and since Portland went on that 13 game winning streak last March, they are 23-25 over the last 48 games, and Nurkic played in every one...

....in other words, you're not the only one who can cherry-pick a biased contextual starting point for argument. But that's why I started in the 2015-16 season for Dame/CJ and 2012 for Olshey/Stotts. I allowed all the good and the bad to fill the ledger, and that good/bad absolutely has to include the playoffs. And since the Dame/CJ team was born in 2015, that good/bad scale sure looks like there's as much bad as good. At best for your point of view it's a tie. But the thing about that is that Portland started with a 44 win season and a 1st round win against a crippled team; and that was accomplished with a team 20 million below the salary cap. 3 seasons later they are on a pace for 46 wins and the prospects of wining a playoff series are cloudy, at best, and they are 8M over the tax line

so then, the real context seems to be treadmill, or purgatory, or whatever Sisyphean metaphor floats your boat...with the only substantive change being that they started with a 62M payroll and oodles of cap-space and have ended up with a 132M payroll and a large tax bill = progress, Olshey-style

@wizenheimer ....so in short, the $$'s per win cost has increased dramatically while winning percentage is almost stagnant. I'd have to agree, 'Olshey-style' doesn't seem to be very productive or effective.
