Would you trade Scoot and Sharpe (and others not including Dame) for Embiid?

  1. Hell yes - finally Dame gets to contend

    15.0%
  2. Hell no - I'm not mortgaging the future for that loser

Scoot and Ant -- MAYBE but not Sharpe -- Joel is a tad older then let's say if the Blazers went all in on Giannis plus he has been a tad minor injury prone too.

Sharpe might be the most talented player on the team one day, but he’s probably never going to be the vocal leader of the team. Scoot can be that guy, and will also have the game to back it up. He is as untouchable as Sharpe.

Embiid next year, estimated, $47.6 million
Scoot and Sharpe at around $16 million combined

Nurkic at a bit under $17 million
Simons a bit over $24 million

If the question is whether someone would trade Scoot and Sharpe for any one player in the NBA (ignoring the CBA), the answer would be yes. Scoot is unproven. Sharpe may max out at all star or above. May. Embiid is the MVP.

A more practical question would be trading Nurkic + Ant + Scoot for Embiid?
Dame, Sharpe, Nas/Matisse, Grant, Embiid and the current bench? Yes. And then improve the bench.

    Not for Embiid.

I’d do it for Giannis. Id do it for Jokic. I would have done it for Durant or LeBron back in the day. But Embiid is too old and too injury prone. The risk is too high.

Yeah I think it would probably require both of Scoot/Sharpe. I'm super worried of Embiid injury risk. Yeah the Dame Embiid duo would be amazing, but we've seen many duos fail and this could really destroy the Blazers next decade of their future. The other problem is the Blazers also have to match salary.

Even if we waited 30 days so Scoot $10 million salary could be included him, Sharpe, Nurkic, Little, Keon is only $32 million. Embiid is $47.6 million. I guess if we could send Cam out somewhere in a sign and trade it would be possible.

The other contract we can send out is Ant, but then its all of Ant, Sharpe, Scoot being sent out. We have no starter at SG or at SF.

    Dame
    Thybulle?
    Kris?
    Grant
    Embiid

That doesn't look close to a contending roster, even though the Dame/Embiid pairing is great.

If there was a way to send out all our future picks and also get Bridges or some type of elite wing in a mega trade it could make sense. That type of Dame/Bridges/Grant/Embiid group could contend even with a bunch of scrubs.

But otherwise I think as crazy as it sounds we might have to pass on Embiid. One of Scoot or Sharpe and I do it. But sending out both plus the Blazers not having pieces to have the roster contend immediately is too big of a risk.

Yes the Blazers should pull the trigger on your bolded question. If its one of Scoot or Sharpe I make the deal. But I don't think thats enough for Philly. Giving up both doesn't leave the Blazers with enough to contend. Its an odd situations where a trade just doesnt make sense for either party.

Are people falling in love with Scoot?

If someone proposed Shaedon plus the third pick plus Nurk and salary fillers, would people still say no?

Dame + Scoot on the Blazers or Dame + Sharpe? One or the other. Not a tough answer IMHO: Dame + Sharpe.
Dame + Scoot + Ant + Sharpe … means someone is getting traded … Ant or Dame (or Ant + Scoot).

I still don’t see Dame and Scoot work out together long term. Scoot is too good to just come off the bench.
