You can't even compare what Kidd did for New Jersey with what Carter did for Toronto. Kidd was arguably the best player in your storied franchise's history and took you to 2 NBA Finals. Carter was Toronto's first franchise player and took us to the 2nd round (its not that hard to be the best player of a franchise that's just 5-6 years old). Kidd's statistics are among the league's best and will be franchise marks for years to come. Most of Carter's records have been surpassed and Chris Bosh will pass his scoring mark within the next 3 seasons. Plus, VC's fall from grace was stretched out over 2-3 seasons while Nets fans only had to deal with Kidd's b.s. for half a season.
Carter's number isn't retired, and nor do I think it should be. If he didn't go out like a bitch, then I would say we should retire it. But he went out with his "injuries" and his shit, so I could care less about him. If you're going to retire a Raptor number, Mo Pete and Alvin Williams and possibly JYD. Bosh will be up there one day. You can quote me on that.

Wtf? haha, Alvin wasn't THAT good... Mo Pete would be awesome there, tho. Definitely hang that jersey.

They retired his number, right?</div> Yeah, those two final appearances with Carter were pretty memorable.

But JYD does a lot for the community. He is always at Raptor games and he loves the team.

Now my opinion is yes Kidd jersey should be retire. he has did a lot for the nets franchise. We had good and bad times. Though the Nets who went to finals will eventually be lost among the Western Conference Dominance, The Spurs 4 rings, Shaq and Kobe three peat plus The Pistons and Heat bringing glory back to the EAST.
yes taking a team who had 17 wins and then taking them to back to back NBA finals deserves jersey retirement no question
If I remember correctly, the Raptors immediately gave Carter's number to a rookie. Not sure who it was. I am sure that Kidd's number will be retired. However, in my view, he surrendered the right to such honors by essentially declaring that he didn't want to be part of the team or its future. Kidd led the team to great heights . . . but in my view, to receive such an honor, you must contribute more than just numbers: you must be a leader on the court, in the clubhouse, and in the community, someone who was a fixture for years and relished it.

He's more of a veteran, as he played for a while overseas in Spain..right? He's, what, 29 now? What a coincidence...he's always injured now, too. Is there some sort of a curse in Toronto with the number 15..?

Let's take a look at the Nets' "NBA Cares" commercial . . . oh, here he is, going to an elementary school in what was solely a marketing event. I guess that makes him a local hero.
