I got banned from there too and for simply asking why it’s OK that Jody Allen has settled multiple harassment and groping claims but when Coach Billups did the same it means he’s guilty even though the police and DA office investigated it thoroughly and didn’t find enough to even take it to a grand jury. I’d been there 10 years under a different name without ever even a warning yet that got me banned. Deckard seems to be having some sort of severe meltdown where he is chasing off long-time contributors who don’t even necessarily disagree with the narrative that he’s cemented in his mind.
It’s pretty much been a joke since Ben Golliver, who was the sole talent there, got real journalism jobs but the posters were always fun and knowledgeable when basketball was actually discussed. I don’t consider Deckard or Timmmay! posting an Oregonlive column and then giving their thoughts on it to be riveting, top-notch writing content but I haven’t expected much in that aspect since Golliver got a real job in the industry. The new writer Dia has some talent and original thoughts along with some writing skills that could develop over time but by then will there be anyone left who actually wants to discuss Blazers basketball? Dave’s purity test over the weekend was fascinating to witness.
I'm a Blazer content junkie if there ever was one and I checked out BE before I knew about this place and felt like I'd visited a cult where you needed to wear the grass skirt and eat the bowl of worms before they'd give you the secret handshake....I never got voted off the BE island but I couldn't handle Dave and his disciples that yup yup every brain fart that comes out of his mouth.....I've stayed clear of there for over a decade at least...nobody laughed at my jokes...here at least two people chuckle on occasion .....how else am I supposed to build up a new hour of comedy gold?
I tried BE many years ago when I was looking for Blazer content. I always thought Golliver was reasonably decent, but what I noticed almost immediately was that the Dave guy never used ten words to try and get his point across when he could use ten thousand words. And it was way too easy (and concerning) to see that his first priority was as a pastor who liked the sound of his own voice, not as a “real” sports guy (I am not against pastors who are sports fans. I’d just prefer to be preached at in church rather than a sports column. Keep it where it belongs). And I’m not sure there is a bigger bloviator out there (next to Stephen A. Asshole) than Dave Deckard. And once Golliver split, it got even worse. And it’s like Dave’s minions are more worried about gargling Dave’s balls and jockeying for position instead of pursuing serious, in depth commentary. SC2 is schizophrenic AF but at least we’re honest about it. I hope the exodus from BE continues. Just don’t bring Dave with you……..

I've always enjoyed stumbling onto that site...some good writing and a wider spectrum of views than most sports sites
