Dre is one quiet dude, I love him, one of my favorite players. But never was a great communicator. I see Felton and LMA talking with their heads together almost every game, hell I've seen em chatting so close their heads are touching. Never saw an inkling of that with Dre. The bond between the two is different, in time it will produce better results on the court.
I don't want the two to have a baby together, I want them to making winning basketball plays together
Here is the thing with Felton, for me anyway, I dont mind him taking shots. In fact I WANT him to take shots. Its WHEN and HOW he takes shots. He has a nasty habit of taking shots WAY to early in the shot clock and the degree of difficulty on some of them is only eclipsed by Crawford. I cant help but believe his shot can only get better but he needs to take the right kind of shots and I would feel a lot better about them. Ive said it before with Felton, he is definitely the kind of player that you have to take the good with the bad. I just want the bad to be a little smarter.
Has any PG ever played well for Nate McMillan? Andre played okay, but never really looked like he was on all cylinders. Steve Blake I supposed played his best basketball under Coach Nate, but Blake wasn't a true PG. Sebastian Telfair, meh... Luke Ridnour, hmm, I still feel kind of meh... On the other hand, it seems like Nate is kind of handing the reins over to Felton, and Felton is failing.
I have seen glimpses of what I think will make Felton an effective PG, so I haven't given up hope on him. And I doubt the Blazers are already giving up on him and looking elsewhere. With this season being crazy and all, it is a good season to see what we got and make some significant moves this summer (maybe trade deadline if something is too good to pass up on). But if Felton's play doesn't improve dramatically, the Blazers will be looking elsewhere for the starting PG postion next year.
Dre was struggling playing with Roy and vice versa. Felton has been given the keys since day one, and he hasn't done anything with them.
Felton is failing compared to his historical averages, but he was never better then average as a starting PG. Miller was a borderline AS throughout his career and again in Portland even at an advanced age. They are the two best PGs in Portland since Nate took over. Did anyone really expect Steve Blake to blossom into an AS? In general I place NBA coaches well behind both the talent and the GM in importance to the franchise STOMP
Sorta right, but Dre never struggled as much as Felton is. And tbh, Felton's stats don't really indicate how poorly he's playing. Top is Dre, bottom is Ray. The split stats for the first few months:
