AK's offense has gone missing...big time...and he's been erratic laely on D,goes for the blocks but a bit leaky otherwise. His head seems a bit scrambled-like he's trying to be what he ain't and getting frustrated. The Nellie game is big on transition speed--and that both J Rich and Pietrus have lots of it-is a big reason Nellie Ball was seen as a fit here. Last year's edition of AK would have probably been a better idea than Harrington. However-If we sacrafice MP's D outside to add AK's inside...it's not a big total gain. POB has to be given this season to develop. We just thinned out our bigs a lot...probably too much. A deal that is mostly just J Rich...AK without another major piece could fly. Start adding MP,last years #1...too much.
If this is a bonafide rumor, I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it. While I do think I would rather have a true big, like KG, Gasol, or ONeil, I think AK would definately help the team. If we are basically conceding that Peitrus will be gone at the end of the season, then we're really only giving up JRich to get him. Jrich is still the most proven scorer on this team but we have plenty of other scoring options, especially now with Harrington. I think AK will help the perimeter D much more than he will hinder the offense. He will also give some much needed help to Beidrins, coming over for weakside help. The only thing that really scares me that next season we wouldn't have much depth. A starting 5 of Baron/Ellis/Al/AK/Beidrins, IMO, could be one of the better teams in the league but we would have nothing but SJax behind them (if he's not in prison by then). Also, doesn't Jrich make almost as much as AK? I'm no cap expert and I may be overly optimistic but I thought that the $ saved by the last trade would allow us to sign Ellis and Beidrins and Jrich's and Peitrus' salaries would cover AK and them some.
I also think that, while AK can definately run the floor, he can also play in a half-court set. I think his offensive rebounding and movement without the ball might decrease our reliance on the run-and-gun style.
AK helps inside. 4 players have dropped 50.....FIFTY on Utah yhis season---from the perimeter. Giricek can't guard the Gatorade jug,AK ain't agile enough to chase SG's around. In Utah they are pretty stunned...AK's whole offense has broke down, and his D is even off a bit. He ain't the same AK47 as last year in any area. Kirilenko's contract is a bit over $2 mill a year more than J Rich.

I'd like to have that guy, but there's a cap in basketball unlike in baseball where you can have the NY Yankees.

In all those great comebacks we had this year, Sloan used a 3-2 zone with AK on top and that through off a lot of teams. His long arms make it hard for the PG to pass and he gets tons of steals. AK is a pretty good finisher on the break and I don't think it'd be that hard for him to get used to your offense. Utah likes to run when they're at home and are very effective doing it at home. I don't think it'd be that bad of a transition for AK. I'm more worried about Pietrus' transition into a halfcourt offense if this does happen Also AK is a lot better playing at the 4 spot, he's a lot more effective, and get way more blocks.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Miller comments on Kirilenko Jazz owner Larry H. Miller had quite a bit to say about the woes of Andrei Kirilenko during his weekly radio appearance Thursday on KZN 1280-AM. A sampling: On if Kirilenko had a coach while working on his shooting last summer: "I think it was the bear (the Jazz's mascot) shooting backward." On Kirilenko's recent slump: "I think more of it is his approach and his attitude than how we're using him ... The problem is you never know which guy is going to show up." On Kirilenko's max-money contract: "I've heard a fair number of people ask the question ... 'Did he get the big contract and tank it?' Look at Chris Webber. It's like he disappeared from the NBA after he got his big contract from Sacramento." When asked about trade possibilities involving Kirilenko, and Kirilenko's comments regarding his role: "I would guess that ... this situation is going to go a long way to resolve itself one way or the other by (next month's All-Star Game break)." "(Coach) Jerry (Sloan) is not going to listen to too much of that raggin' — what Andrei's saying. ... It's frequent enough now, I would have to say he's putting himself on thin ice — a combination of him not playing very well, and shooting his mouth off." Asked if he's surprised by Kirilenko's perceived lack of effort: "I am, because I've always felt that as good as he's been on the floor and as talented as he is ... his greatest single strength is his character." On Kirilenko wanting more shots: "I'd almost like to call his bluff and say, 'OK, automatically we're gonna leave you out there; you're gonna take 20 shots a game five games in a row.' And then see. That would resolve the issue. Either he's going to make it or not. I know it's an unkind thing, and I don't say it to be unkind. (But) as long as he's gonna air it out in the media, I'll air it out a little bit with him." On Kirilenko's future: "What I hope it doesn't become is a test of wills between Jerry (Sloan) and Andrei, because then you run a serious risk of opening a rift that's tough to fix. ... To me, Andrei could simply make the choice to play well — and I don't think he's done that the last 10 games."</div> source
Nice input here, especially from AlleyOop with this article. I believe that nothing will be done until Jason Richardson returns from his broken hand injury, which may make this type of deal a deadline deal, like the Jazz guy mentioned. I think the Warriors should see how the team transitions with this first trade. But another way to look at it is that the Warriors are made up of rejects by the rest of the NBA with Baron, Barnes, Ellis(second round pick), Stephen Jackson, Azubuike, and even Don Nelson from his previous Dallas position, so maybe AK will fit. Also if the Jazz are this fed up with AK maybe we can end up keeping Pietrus, since most people here seem more worried about losing Pietrus, especially his defense, than they are worried about losing JRich. Also there could be questions about how Jason Richardson and Al Harrington would fair playing together if both players need to take a lot of shots. I think the Warriors turn into a top defensive team with Ellis, Pietrus, Jackson, AK47, and Biedrins also with solid defenders in Foyle, and possibly Azubuike and POB. If the Warriors can take the deal down a notch and make it a JRich/Zarko for AK47 deal then that may be ideal. The Warriors would get a bunch of transition points with that defense.
nobody saw the Davis trade coming, nobody saw the recent trade coming, I officially will not entertain any rumors while Mullin is in chargs

Yeah, I mean if you forget for a moment what we give up to get him, this line-up looks pretty darn strong (and dynamic): Baron Monta Harrington AK-47 Biedrins <u>Bench:</u> Jackson Barnes Sarunas Azabuike <u>reserve</u> Foyle POB Powell Still, it seems JRich and Pietrus is too much without getting a sweetener in return. Maybe we could get back Ronnie Brewer or Rafael Arujo along with AK?
How about swap out Harrington and put in Jackson? Harrington's a better sixth man IMO. Drive and kick out to Stephen Jackson from behind the arc might work better than doing it for Harrington. PG: Baron Davis SG: Monta Ellis SF: Stephen Jackson PF: AK47 C: Andris Biedrins PG: Jaskevicious SG: Kelenna Az SF: Matt Barnes PF: Al Harrington/Powell/Beans C: Foyle/Harrington/POB
AK says he's been doing better the last 2 games if you read todays recap. (Almost makes you not want to trade him for Biedrins, right custodian?

It's a risk. JRich has a great work ethic, good shooter/rebounder/scorer and he makes plays. Kirilenko is scrawny, injury prone, not a good shooter and is only really good at one thing...defense. That being said, I'd take the risk and do the trade. I like the Harrington trade from a basketball and a financial perspective but let's not kid ourselves, this team only got a little better defensively and worse rebounding. Kirilenko can do a little bit of everything and is a solid defender. Make the trade and find a veteran shooter. *note* After reading the initial trade proposed, the filler would have to be something good. JRich for Kirilenko is an even deal. I'd add a prospect to get the deal done but two? Pietrus and POB? I'd give both away but we'd need one back, like Milsap.

Jax fired off 400+ 3 pt attempts in his season with the Hawks...well over 300 with Indy last year. I can't see him ahead of Pietrus or Barnes once the new car smell turns to the Fish we had before Some guys change .....5 teams, so far, thought he might.
The word in Utah is AK is addicted to on-line video games....often stays up late, forgets to eat.... He'd like being near silicon valley I guess. Seems getting AK kind of makes Harrington a bit redundant. Do we go bigger at SF now? Kirilenko not playing near as well in the past (yet still a high priced talent) should have us thinking VERY careful what we'd pay.
